Hostel Prime Guimarães — Hotel in Guimarães

We stayed in a private room with bathroom and balcony overlooking Guimaraes at the back of the 300 year old house,built with large granite slabs possibly reclaimed from the old city walls. The house is situated in a beautiful street setting, that upon returning at night, gave the illusion of having a light frost covering because of the street lights reflecting on the dusty layer of exposed sand, loosened from underneath some of the cobbled road surface.|Fausto, Celia and the other lady on reception welcomed us warmly and were very good at providing information on the local area.|The hostel proved very good value for money, an adequate breakfast and I have no problem in thoroughly recommending it.|The only thing that disappointed me on our visit, was the sight from the room balcony, at approximately 20 meters, of a quiet and dejected dog, tethered on a short chain next to it's kennel. This is nothing to do with the Hostel but I only wish I could chain the dog's owner in a similar manner, for at least a month, to give him an idea of...

Sofia & Co really helped to make this a great soiree in rainy February. An international family atmosphere, sharing well-cooked food & plenty drink - at least one of the Italians & I did the dishes. Thank you much for the hospitality, folks. ||||Guimaraes is the cradle of Portugal, and this old house on the edge of the old town has been lovingly crafted into an atmospheric hostel with modern amenities. We stayed for one night in this beautiful hostel. The owner is so nice! He talked to us a little bit about the city and showed us where we should go. Everything is very, very clean. Wifi in the entire house. We were alone in the hostel and situated on the last floor, but we didnt mind. Usually we would get breakfast in other hostels with this price, but here you have to pa extra. Even though the breakfast isn't included, the owner gave us coffee for free and that was very nice :) it started to rain and He showed us a shortcut to train station. All in all, beautiful hostel near the main square and the best...
