Family owned little guesthouse — only 15 apartments — professionally managed within a well established and respected portuguese hospitality group. That's arguably the right combination for this place, that sets it appart from other short term rental like apartments, especially in what quality of service is concerned! Just renovated, very quiet, welcoming staff, the quality of the towels and linen, and attentive housekeeping, make a difference in what I consider is a fair value exchange.
Let's get to it!
Located in the very quiet upper streets of bustling Bairro Alto — with it's bars, restaurants, and nightlife — and barely one step away from fancy, cosmopolitan Principe Real — with it's beautiful garden square (ask what's under the square, and you'll be amazed!), and the many surrounding palaces, and quality shops — My Suite Lisbon gives you the best of both worlds.
Adding to that, it's only a short walk to the always-busy Chiado quarter, and, from there, downhill to Baixa, Lisbon downtown.
What else?
If you happen to like vegetarian-vegan, try this route through a few of arguably the best venues nearby — or in all of Lisbon, for that matter: Ao26 - Vegan Food Project - restaurant Eight - The Health Lounge - juice, toast and salads bar Manjerica - SmartVegCuisine - brunch cafe and restaurant O Botanista - restaurant
If you want the perfect close up view of Lisbon's seven hills — just across the street from Manjerica and Eight, and from the eléctrico 15 and eléctrico 28 charming historical trams stops — you can't miss the sunset at Rooftop Bar, on the top floor of Hotel Mundial, with a stunning, I mean, Stunning!, 360º view of the city!
So, here's what an unforgettable day in your life could look like:
wake up at 8:30 - you're here to have fun, so make the most of it! show up at Manjerica for a deliciously healthy brunch @manjericalisboa. take the 28 tram in front of Hotel Mundial, heading Prazeres. step down at Basilica da Estrela, and visit the church and the nearby gardens. walk back down Calçada da Estrela to the Parlament. pick up a delicious ice cream at Nannarella, just accross the street. take a cab or uber up to Ao26, and have lunch. spend the afternoon strolling around Chiado - lot's to see! don't leave before you've had a pastel de nata at Manteigaria, in Camões Sq. head back downtown to Figueira Sq and grab a light bite at Eight, @8healthlounge. it's time to climb up to the Rooftop, now; sitback, enjoy the sunset, enjoy the music, enjoy the cocktails, don't drink too much - you'll want to wake up at 8:30 again the next morning!, 'cause there's so much for you to see and do in Lisboa, my city, your city, a city of the world!
And what else?
All of the above is amplified by a factor of one thousand, if you experience it with your favorite person on the planet by your side!
These days I'm fascinated with this song by Daniella Mason — Planet.
At time of writing — it's winter now — I listened to this song maybe three or four times in a row, and what started as a short review, just sprang into, well..., this...!
This song throws me back to springtime, to the journey of a lifetime; it makes me feel much younger, and I can almost smell the flowers in your hair (you know who!) again, right now! Can't wait to see you, when I pick you up at work later on and drive you home with me. You're my favorite person...
Read moreMy wife and I recently spent three very disappointing nights at My Suite Lisbon Guest House from May 16 - 19, 2023.|Prior to visiting Portugal we researched various hotels available in Lisbon and became aware of My Suite Lisbon Guest House as a result of looking at Hotel Mondial's web site offering of a Boutique Hotel. |Preferring to stay in a hotel suite with a garden to relax in after hours of walking and hill climbing we decided upon staying at My Suite Lisbon and booked a Deluxe Suite with Garden View through with the assumption any offering associated with Hotel Mondial must be of good quality.|Such was not the case. Upon our arrival we were given a room that most definitely was not a deluxe suite nor did it have a garden view. Presuming we were given this particular room by mistake I approached the office and was told that that our room was indeed a Deluxe Suite and that there was no opportunity to change room.|I can't even explain our disappointment in our realization that we were the subject of a bait and switch as nothing about our room was anything typical to photos we'd seen on My Suite Lisbon's web site nor that of Hotel Mondial's web site.|To describe the room we were offered as a Deluxe Suite is far from any reality. At best it was a 2 star room with cheap old mismatched chairs and furnishings; an old warn and frayed leather sofa; a rusted fridge; a TV sitting upon an old steamer trunk similar to we had and afford in our 60's Bohemian college days ; no garden view; no facial tissues thus forcing us to use toilet paper to wipe our nose; no soap for the bidet; etc., etc. Definitely not a Deluxe offering!|Had we not prepaid for our room we would not have stayed. |In the three weeks we spent in Europe and staying in a dozen hotels My Suite Lisbon|was unquestionably the worst!|Upon our return we wrote to both My Suite Lisbon Guest House and the Mondial Hotel to express our dissatisfaction and they have not had the courtesy...
Read moreLocation is fantastic and rooms are spacious for the area - but the limited reception hours make it difficult to get in. There's an app they email you that helps you get into the building, but it's dependent on them pushing access from their end so you can get in. Problem is, they don't monitor it after hours, so you end up getting to the front door, locked out, and have to call their phone number to get in. Whoever was helping us didn't seem very tech savvy, because when I called to say the app wasn't working, she decided to send out a staff member from another hotel to physically let us in (which ended up taking an hour from the time we arrived), when all she had to do was push the app access from her side to my phone. We waited in the street with our bags for an hour, and when the staff member arrived, his master key didn't even work - we had to get other guests to let us into the building as they were entering. After we were let in by others, the receptionist figured out how to push access to my phone through their app. The app also only works on one phone - so if you have 2 or more people staying with you, you better all stick together because as soon as someone else tries to download the app and login, it signs the original device out and you have to go through the process of calling reception to push access all over again (still to one person only). We ended up being 20min late to our dinner reservation and frustrated. Which is unfortunate because if the checkin process was better here, we'd...
