We had the pleasure of staying at Ocean Porto Beach House for just one night, and the only regret we have is not booking for longer. From the moment we arrived, the experience exceeded expectations, largely thanks to the incredible staff who made us feel right at home.
A special shoutout to Julia at the front desk, whose warm and welcoming demeanour set the tone for our stay. She was attentive, helpful, and genuinely kind. We also want to recognise the two lovely housekeeping staff members who went above and beyond to make our 2-year-old daughter feel special, offering her toys to play with and sharing some delicious cakes that made her day. Their kindness truly touched us. Sadly, I did not get their names.
The hotel itself is perfectly located, just minutes from the beach and surrounded by excellent restaurants. Tucked away on a quiet street primarily used by streetcars, with very little road traffic, it offers a peaceful setting that still feels connected to everything.
Our group occupied two rooms, one with a garden view and another facing the street. Both were spotless, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly functional. The beds were very comfortable, and the air conditioning worked beautifully, which was a welcome relief during the nearly 40 degree weather Porto has been experiencing.
The main areas of the hotel are gorgeous, with cozy lounge spaces and plenty of seating to relax and unwind. The backyard is a standout feature, boasting a serene pool, shaded seating areas, and thoughtful extras like beach towels, free bicycles, surfboards, and wetsuits available for guests to borrow.
Breakfast was simple yet satisfying—fresh bread, cereals, yogurt, and an array of cakes and custard tarts that were truly exceptional. Plus, the 24/7 espresso machine was a much-appreciated touch.
One important note: the property is spread over three stories and does not have an elevator. While this wasn’t a problem for us, as the staff kindly helped with our luggage, it may pose an issue for those with mobility concerns.
All in all, Ocean Porto Hotel is a charming, welcoming spot that offers something for everyone. The genuine hospitality of the team made it especially memorable for our family. We’re already counting down the days until...
Read moreMy partner, his parents, and I stayed here for 5 days, and it was absolutely delightful! My partner’s parents have accessibility needs, and they faced no issues at all during our stay. Later in the week, more of my partner’s family joined us, and this place was perfect for accommodating a large family.||||The property is beautiful—tranquil and peaceful. The rooms are stylish, clean, and well-maintained, with bathrooms that were spotless. The showers are amazing if you like hot, powerful ones, but they’re easy to adjust if needed. We were lucky enough to have a room with a balcony, adding to the charm.||||The housekeeping staff were super friendly, as was the owner, who regularly checked in to make sure everything was perfect. The breakfast was simple but nice, though if you have special dietary needs (like vegan or gluten-free), you might want to bring your own items to store in the communal fridge. Lidl is just a 5-minute walk away for easy groceries.||||The location was ideal—just 10 minutes from the beach and around 20 minutes by taxi to Porto, which allowed us to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city. Nearby, there are excellent seafood restaurants (skip the Italian across the road), and the beach itself is lovely and clean.||||The small pool kept the kids entertained, and while towels were provided, you might want to bring extras if you’re staying for more than 4 days. There’s no parking, but Ubers were cheap and frequent, so we didn’t feel the need for a car.||||Even though it seemed busy during our stay, it was quiet, and the other guests were polite and respectful. We highly recommend this property and would happily stay again!||||Does that capture everything the...
Read moreMy daughter and I spent 4 nights at this quiet location recently. Our lovely bedroom overlooked the pool patio at the back and was stylishly decorated and very comfortable. The shower was to die for; really hot water and a proper power shower, but I wasn't quite as keen on the sliding door, as it wouldn't close properly. The delightful housekeeper offered us each really thick, soft towels for the beach, and umbrellas when it rained, and catered for our every need. The breakfast was very good and plentiful, though not keen on the long bench table for maybe 10-12 people as I'm not a morning person, but we managed to get one of the two smaller round tables during our stay. I have given the hotel five stars because I feel it deserves it, and would return there as it is very close to the beautiful beach, and offers a little pool to cool down in after a long day...
