After much research, I’m so glad I found this gem! I love how the hotel combines two historic buildings into a boutique property, preserving Azorean architecture while thoughtfully incorporating textiles inspired by the island’s agricultural heritage and integrating contemporary design. I very much appreciated their support for local artisans and their sustainability initiatives (even down to the shoes their staff wear).||The location is perfect, within easy walking distance of Ponta Delgada’s main attractions and restaurants! As someone who works in hospitality, I can confidently say this hotel exceeded my expectations! The service was impeccable, the attention to detail was outstanding, and the hospitality was warm and genuine. ||Communication was excellent too—they reached out immediately after booking to confirm my ETA, ask if I needed to book a shuttle from the airport (additional cost), and even check for food allergies. My airport transfer was seamless, with a kind and easy-to-spot driver.||I booked an upgraded room on the 4th floor, and it was worth it for the beautiful view. The bed was very comfortable, and I especially enjoyed the toiletries with their lovely scent (made in Portugal). Everything matched what I had seen on the hotel’s website and Instagram.||Big shout-out to the front desk team! Gonçalo greeted me with such joy on arrival, let me check in early, and even suggested I grab breakfast before it ended before going to my room—a thoughtful gesture that made my day after flying overnight. Vincente and João went above and beyond with their sightseeing & restaurant recommendations, and they also arranged to store my luggage and properly refrigerate my insulin after checkout so I could explore the area.||A special thank you as well to Màrcia and the restaurant staff (sorry I didn’t catch everyone’s names) for their warmth and great service. I really enjoyed the included breakfast—especially starting each morning with a cappuccino :)||I would absolutely recommend Nine Dots and will definitely stay here again! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. As a solo female traveler visiting São Miguel for the first time, I felt safe, comfortable, and...
Read moreWhen booking our trip to Ponta Delgada and trying to decide on a hotel, we kept coming back to Nine Dots. We were hesitant because it was a new property (just opened in March 2024), so there were very few reviews to go off. Ultimately, we decided to go through with booking at Nine Dots and omg - I cannot recommend this place enough.
To start, our flight was a red eye so we arrived in Ponta at 6:45 am. We picked up our car at the airport (booked through GoRentACar Sao Miguel, highly recommend) and because it was SO early, we weren't sure what to do. We decided to go right to the hotel and get our bearings and explore until we were able to check into our room. The front desk staff were some of the nicest people we met on the island. They immediately offered us breakfast (complimentary with your stay) and said they would get our room ready. We had the most incredible breakfast and by 9:30 am, we were in our room which was SO nice because we definitely needed to shower and change before starting our day.
The location is unbeatable. Right on one of the central streets with all the restaurants and shops you could want around you. They have the cutest little outdoor patio, and every floor of the hotel has terraces and quaint areas to sit outside with drinks or a book. I seriously can't explain enough how beautifully curated everything is, the cleanliness, the friendliness of the staff, or how amazing the food and drinks are. The complimentary breakfast is 11/10. Upon sitting, you're given the most delicious bread board with local jams, honey, and spreads. Between making your own omelet to a protein chia bowl, it exceeded my expectations.
The salt water indoor heated pool was UNREAL. My boyfriend and I did extensive hiking everyday, so to come back to the hotel and have a cocktail followed by relaxing in the pool was the best way to relax. We didn't get to book any massage services during our stay because we ended up doing so much and didn't have time,...
Read moreOne of the best vacations stays I've enjoyed (and I'm fortunate enough to travel internationally)! I can't speak well enough about the warmth and exceptional service from the entire staff, especially the three Joaos! It started with our way-too-early arrival. They kindly offered our included breakfast before check-in and were able to check us in before the scheduled time. The room was a delight! It included a sample bottle of a local liquor, fresh fruits, water, and Azorean sodas. It was a bright and airy space with a private balcony overlooking a pedestrian-only street with restaurants and shops. We slept soundly on comfortable king-sized beds. The property itself is beautiful, with Azorean sketch drawings on every floor, tasteful furnishings, cozy nooks for relaxation, a lush terrace, and a spa pool. The hotel has a steam bath and a massage room! Breakfast is included with your stay, as well as a complimentary cheese tasting. Every morning, we breakfasted on custom-made omelets, pancakes, Azorean cheeses, honey from the comb, local teas, fresh fruit juices and a rotating selection of pastries. They accommodated my gluten-free allergies with tasty breads! The onsite restaurant served vegetarian meals for my husband and I fell in love with their Lula (squid) salad. The bar surprised and delighted me with the best drink I've had to date; Gemcalo, you are a genius. Everyone should stop by and try the Morandi, a cachaca and pineapple beverage that is refreshing, but not overly sweet. This property is conveniently located in the heart of Ponta Delgada, within walking distance to gardens, restaurants, hidden tapas bars, historic churches and museums. There is an affordable parking garage nearby for excursions outside the city. I will miss practicing Portuguese with the Joaos, sipping on Morandis, and feeling pampered by the entire experience. I guess my husband and I will just...
