I’m leaving this review because hopefully the owner or the management can address this. I know normally bad reviews get more attention but I’m not here to try and bring the business down.
I let a waiter know that my partner is pregnant. He said we still had to wait in a line. The wait time was over an hour. I replied every place in Portugal gives priority to pregnant women and people with disabilities, this is the only place that does not. He replied there’s children waiting in line too.
I left and took my business somewhere else. I went to a restaurant up the road that I won’t name. There was about 30 people waiting. I approached the host and let him know my partner was pregnant and without hesitation he said “Yes, you have priority, step right in”.
I would just like for this establishment to follow the standard in Porto Delgado. I’m not sure if it’s a law or not but it’s just the right thing to do.
I could’ve been a jerk and given this place 1 star like most people do but since I didn’t even eat here that wouldn’t be right.
I know people leave reviews in their feelings but this is more like an...
Read moreAfter trying 3 other restaurants that didn’t have space since I didn’t make a reservation, I decided to try this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. I got a table immediately and ordered the marisco rice, sangria, and the rebanada (French toast with bananas with sugar glaze, almonds, on a papaya jam base, and scoop of ice cream), which were all great, especially the dessert. The rice dish I expected to be like a paella but it was a bit more like soup but still very good—only advice/feedback would be to serve this dish with some garlic bread that one can enjoy with the soup base. But otherwise, flavors were great! Good service, attentive. I tried a tasca restaurant (that everyone and their mother recommended) last night and got food poisoning after not eating the main dish because it was inedible—makes me think restaurants like this one that fly under the radar might be the better choice whereas the really popular ones are maybe losing their touch while having to cater to higher customer volumes. I will likely return to churrasco...
Read moreWhat a mistake coming here because other places had 10-20 minute wait times. This place is a scam. I have had 10000% better Portuguese food outside of Portugal than this place.
Every single item, including the steak and the seafood was under salted or not seasoned at all. These people don't even know the basics of cooking, no one employed at this restaurant should be in this industry. Service was slow but otherwise friendly, and it's definitely not the servers fault. I think the owners have just found a perfect spot in Ponta Delgada to scam tourists. Because if you go here once you'll never go back.
Made more terrible by the fact that it was our first night in PD, and it was too late to simply walk away and try another place as other restaurants were closing down.
Tl;Dr if you have even a little bit of a developed palette, DO NOT waste your money...
