I agree with the other reviews that the service is close to zero. We went there tonight after 22h00 (sunday evening, pretty cold, streets are empty). When we entered the bar, a guy was standing in the doorway looking at us as if we were coming straight from Mars… we asked if we could have a drink. His mouth said yes, his face said no but we bravely sat down. The bar was half empty, the doors wide open and an icy wind was blowing around our table. We got up, happily found a table in the corner, far away from the open door, and started choosing our cocktails. Guess what, a funny girl shows up and tells us the table was too big for 2 persons and leads us back to the freezy entrance where we had the choice of sitting in the icy wind or next to the toilet (icy wind included)…. guys, really …?! Was this hidden camera? You turn away customers that wouldn‘t mind sipping more than one of your 15€ cocktails…? On a cold sunday night with empty streets and very low chance that a group of 4 or 6 shows up to occupy your „big“ table…? As we don‘t appreciate having our drinks with a running nose, we left and luckily found a welcoming, customer friendly place with...

We were looking for a table for dinner around 7.15-30, and spotted one here. A miracle as we could sit immediately. You might have to wait, but get a cocktail or local beer from the bar and be patient, it is worth it. The dishes are not large, but really delicious, we had the local cheese and sausage platter, chorizo, sausage, black pudding (blood sausage), two Sao Miguel and one Faial cheeses, honey, pineapple jam and plenty of good bread. A Greek salad and a local pepper hummus. All very well balanced. Finished off with caramelised pineapple and ice-cream. So good. There's a huge turnover of covers managed by a courteous front of house team, who kept track of the innumerable orders and did not seem to keep anyone waiting too long. Most dietary requirements it seems can be catered for, though vegans might have a tough time. There are a lot of people walking around and through the outside dining area, and also waiting for a table. Don't rush but also don't hang around too long either. Enjoy...

Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience here. After having to wait for 30min - which is absolutely no problem - we ordered 4 dishes to share. We had to ask twice for the bottle of water. 40min later we got the first dish, a cheese platter! Bread is usually served with this dish but we were told they ran out of bread. Another server said it'll come - it never did. Another 25min later a second dish arrived. After a total of 90min I stood up to cancel the rest of the order - mind you, nobody ever came to the table to ask whether we needed anything else to drink or clear the dishes. A new server came and confirmed that we wanted to cancel the remaining dishes and said he'll be right back with the bill. After 20min I went inside to pay. Nobody offered to have the wine or water to be covered by them.. A very unfortunate experience and there were many table around us that had similar...

We were looking for a place to eat and get some drinks with a nice atmosphere. Ta Gente seemed to tick all the boxes. When we walked in, we really liked the setting! We started with some tapas, the chicken, the squid and the steak sandwich, recommended by our waiter. The squid was good, chicken had a balanced flavour with the fresh lettuce and then we shared the steak sandwich. We asked for it medium rare and they delivered. The meat was tender and juicy. The only thing missing was some salt, it would have brought the sweet and salty flavour to another level. Still good, nevertheless. The fries had good seasoning on them, too bad they were frozen. Let's move on to cocktails. I tried the ones with pineapple. The azores queen deserves its name. I really liked that one! Try the dried pineapple as well, it has an extremely rich flavour! We will be back!

We came here twice during our stay in Ponta Delgada - once for cocktails, and once for tapas. We sat inside for drinks and they have a cozy area by the bar with couches and armchairs. The cocktails were delish! We had the peach Paloma and the blueberry bourbon mule. When we went back for tapas we sat outside, which was great as well. We shared the cheese board. Maybe not super great value for the money there but it was yummy. Service was terrific both days! I’d definitely recommend coming for drinks and small plates!
