Amazing Azoreian cuisine! Try the Cod Fritters or the fresh Cheese Plate, both are fire! The restaurant is beautifully done and under new ownership. Many of these reviews don't reflect that. Such a historic place! It's hard to believe the harbor used to come up to almost the back window a few hundred years ago. The walls of the restaurant reflect that in the picture and decor. What's great about the restaurant is doesn't serve burgers and steaks, which seem to be a dime a dozen. You can get that anywhere in Ponta Delgado, which is disappointing. I have coeliac disease and came here because someone mentioned I could find gluten free beer. They had Super Bock sem gluten! Wasn't planning on eating but the restaurant staff were good in explaining what was naturally gluten free on the menu and what foods to avoid including cross contact (french fries, for example). Happy with the answers I received, I ordered the clams, chorizo (it came without bread), and yams and sausage. All good portion sizes (think tapas) and were delicious. The clams especially. The best restaurant we went to while in Ponta Delgada! I really love the tapas concept, I did not encounter the menu combination anywhere else while in the Azores. We went back just for the lapas! I ate lapas every single day and this restaurant cooked it the best. They also helped us pick up the wine which we found very very tasty and well paired with our food. Some of the staff did not speak English well, but we managed to communicate with whatever gestures we can make out of our hands and that made the whole experience...
