We were completely deceived by this hotel. The room we were given was in horrific condition — mold covering the walls and ceiling, a nauseating, overpowering smell, filthy bedding, and torn towels. It was absolutely unfit for human stay.||We immediately contacted a staff member, who acknowledged the state of the room and promised the issue would be resolved the next day. But instead, we were told there were no other rooms available, and that if we wanted to stay, we’d have to move from one room to another every single day — a completely unreasonable suggestion.||This trip was not for leisure — we were there for nursing training, with a tightly scheduled program at a university and hospital. We had no time or energy to waste on chasing rooms. With no solution provided, we were forced to check out and scramble to find alternative accommodation last minute, paying out of pocket again just to have a place to sleep.||And then the lies began. The hotel owner, whom we had never seen or spoken to during our stay, started fabricating a completely false version of events: denying the mold, claiming the hotel had been renovated, insisting we were offered other rooms — all of which is completely untrue. We have clear photo evidence of the condition of the room, and the reception area had security cameras that should show no other rooms were ever offered.||They even claimed our intention was simply to “switch hotels.” That is beyond insulting. Who chooses to sleep on the street with their suitcases and stress over last-minute booking, if the room they paid for was actually livable?||In the end, we stayed at the first place we could find on the same street, just to fix the situation quickly. We were already exhausted, with no free time, and this disaster added unnecessary emotional and financial strain on top of an already demanding trip.||What this hotel did was not just unprofessional — it was deceptive, unsafe, and inhumane. People should not be subjected to this kind of treatment when they are simply looking for a clean, safe...

The room was clean and fully-equipped when I arrived, but overall the hotel was let down by its service. It turned out there was only one key to my room, which is why it wasn't cleaned or restocked. I was only made aware of this just before my third and final night in the hotel, and can't see why this wasn't picked up by the hotel sooner. The concierge asked if I'd like it cleaned but at that point it seemed like a waste of time, though I took him up on the offer of new shampoo and soap.
Some of the staff were very on the ball and spoke good English, however when I arrived I was met by somebody who spoke very little English and with my limited Portuguese we ended up communicating through Google Translate, and I had to go back to the desk later to formally check in.
Provided the housekeeping staff can access your room, they'll leave a breakfast of 8 small crackers and a miniature muffin. There's a bakery, Fumeiro, down the road which they direct you to for a fuller meal.
I was on the ground floor. There are bars over the windows so you can safely open them, but be prepared for people peering in. A drunk (?) man also garbled something at me when I was lying on the bed looking at my phone, which was fun. Obviously the hotel can't control this but if you're on the ground be aware.
Even allowing for how cheap this place is, the service really isn't up to scratch which is a shame as the rooms are...
Read moreThe good things, friendly and helpful staff, clean room.||||The awful:||We got a disabled room, not sure why, but it meant the bathroom was a wet room, so floor was always wet. The toilet was too high, the sink too low! The light came on automatically, but the timer was set for 4 seconds only, even when showering it kept going off and on. During the night it would go on with the extraction fan for no reason. We did complain and were told an engineer would correct it…..never did!||||The room and bed were very small, no storage at all, we had a kettle and cups, but no Coffee or Tea, no spoon but there was a knife!||||I don’t know how you would ever get a wheelchair up the three steps into the hotel, from the narrow street?||||The hotel was locked morning and early evening, it was only because another guest was there, we knew about the side gate entrance.||||||Car parking, was a tatty, near derelict private garage across the street.||||WiFi was poor,...
