Taberna Dom Castro — Restaurant in Porto

We found Taberna Dom Castro by this Google map. The chef was kind and helpful. He told us to feel like at home. Actually it has relaxing atmosphere, beautiful interior and good service there. We had a fish soup, fried sardine and Bacalhau à Brás. All were really delicious. Green wine was also tasty and we finished two bottles. Since we are not a big eater we took away home the rest of Bacalhau à Brás. The price is unbeatably reasonable. Great restaurant. We were really lucky to find this Taberna Dom Castro. We organised a wine trip with to Porto and Douro Valley with some 12 swedish tourists. The dinner was organised off the menu by the owner and his daughter that presented us with: fried codfish (like fish & chips) with tomato rice crusted fried octopus (filetes de polvo) oven baked kid (goat) For desert we had home made "leite creme" (creme brulle/crema Catalana) and "chocolate mousse" We were all dared with the amazing food and how welcoming was the family that owns the restaurant! Wow, what an experience. Be advised that you need to ring a bell to get in and that the kitchen hours are limited. Basically, it's like a restaurant that doesn't want customers. I had the fish menu and really enjoyed the soup. As for the sardines, they were pretty dry, and the fried cod was very salty and greasy. On top of the not very good food, the gruff owner and his daughter were arguing much of the night and smoking was allowed. I left smelling like kitchen grease and cigarettes. Would...
