THE WORST HOTEL EVER! I have been staying a lot of hotels, this is the worst experience I ever encountered. Hotel staff named Pedro is unprofessional and rude. We checked in and found out the hotel room is not what we expected and asked for the checks for any other rooms available, an other reception staff showed us the room and let us know the upgrade price. We found it would be cheaper if we book directly from the website. So we asked nicely by any chance if it is possible to cancel the current booking and make another reservation. We totally understand that the policy may not be possible for us to do so, we are totally fine if the staff kindly explain the situation. BUT, the reception staff called PEDRO, was so RUDE, he immediately stopped us from finishing the lines and said No, with his cold-shoulder tone of voice and not even look at us when he was talking. I was shocked with his attitude, making us look like a fool. His attitude really disgusted me and not qualify as a front line staff in hospitality service at all! I feel so sorry for the hotel of having this staff working in reception and representing the hotel image. I saw there was another customer complained in another day , while he also handled with his ānone of my businessā attitude. The other staffs I encountered were nice and cheerful except him. Besides, when I walked pass the corridors, I saw two young girls struggling with their languages, pushing the language cart all the way from reception to their rooms, while there is no staff offer any helping hands. I asked them whether they need helps and they told me the staff only left them with the lagguage cart by themselves. I am not sure what is NEYA hotel policy regarding to the lagguage, but at least offer some helping hands, maybe taking up the lagguages to the cart instead of all standing in the reception table, chit chatting. Also I small suggestion, it is okay if you donāt provide ice delivery to room but when we go all the way to the bar and get it, it is disappointed that no ice bucket to offer for a four star hotel, and only two small glasses of ice offer. The first time I thought maybe the bucket was all occupied but I went there for another day, also no ice bucket available. To sum up, the view of the hotel is nice but I would not recommend anyone to stay in this hotel at hall, with the unprofessional handling from their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy mother and I stayed here for four days in September 2025. The lobby and rooms were clean and comfortable. And the view from the rooms is just unbeatable!||The hotel itself it s little outside of the city center where most of the tourist attractions are, but it is very easy to walk to the hotel in about 10 minutes right along the river. We never felt unsafe during the walk, and it was honestly very nice to be a little outside of the busy/noisy city center.||The real star of the show here is the spa. The hotel is in an old convent, and the spa is the area where the original components of the convent seem most intact. It is gorgeous and the spa staff was wonderful. We really enjoyed our treatments. ||The front desk staff was also very kind. I wouldn't say that there are any real negatives to this hotel, however, there were just a few things that I felt would have elevated the experience: 1) there is a reusable water jug in the rooms, but you have to fill it yourself--housekeeping does not refill it even if it is empty when housekeeping arrives, 2) similarly, there is no place to buy a bottle of water from the front desk like you might expect from a little lobby shop or something like that, 3) both check in and check out had a line of about 3 people ahead of me but only one person working at the desk--this made the process feel a bit slow, especially because we were rushing to try to get to a scheduled tour, 4) the front desk is not able to convert currency, even in small amounts, and the only advice they had as to how to do so was to go to a kiosk at the train station which was closed, and 5) we did not purchase the package that included breakfast, but one day we decided to have breakfast at the hotel before a morning tour (which was far more expensive than I expected, but I was okay with that), and I am not sure if this is a particularly unusual thing to do, but after we paid and sat down, we were asked for our room number several more times--I don't know why this was happening, but it gave the distinct feeling like they felt we were there improperly or without paying, even though, we clearly had. Overall, I would still happily stay...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOur experience at the Neya Hotel was a mixed one. I'll detail it out on Pros and Cons. Pro: Our room had a great view of the Douro river The rooftop was a very great spot to order food from the bar/kitchen and take in the beautiful weather The location is about a 15 min walk from the Ribeira district but it's mostly up steep hills. Just a fair warning, you might get tired of doing this commute after a couple of days. 4. The rate we paid was very good for the location and amenities.
Cons: There is a club next to the hotel that starts partying at 6AM during the weekends and on random days of the week. They keep playing till about 1pm. I highly recommend not to get a room on the east side of the building. If you can, ask for a room on the west side. The staff don't seem to be on the same page on mostly everything. They don't honor the discounts that they advertise within their amenities (i.e. dinner discount after getting a massage at their spa) or ask that you have to get reservations at the front desk prior to using the discounts. Regarding the club next door, we had asked to be moved rooms but the staff at the front told us that it was a one time issue. After two days of waking up at 6AM due to loud bass sounds, we called again and the staff said that this was an ongoing issue they have had for 15 years. The fitness room is barely a fitness room. The cable machine has been out of order for a while. The singular treadmill that they have catches your foot when you walk on it. They also don't have supplies for you to clean up after yourself. The breakfast they offer is ok but try to get there earlier in the morning, as the food tends to not be replenished as often towards the end of the...
