We chose the separate 2 bedroom house Casa da Lula and we couldn't;t have been happier. From the moments that we arrived by Uber - we were warmly greeted by Armie and made to feel at home. We had tons of personal space and the wee unit was well set up. ||A special comment has to go to the quality of the amenities. This was part of a 7 week trip in Italy and Portugal. This is the ONLY place where the shampoo and conditioner were of a quality that I felt I could use. It was a real treat!!||You need to be aware that the unit is downstairs form the upstairs unit so you might hear those above you. It was not a problem for us. In fact - the family above us had left - gone to they r new accomodation and came straight back to Quinta Velha because it was so good. We should have learnt from them and used Uber delivery to secure a few basic groceries but there was very little we needed as breakfast was fabulous (and included) and we chose to eat every night at the house and enjoy Armie's fabulous cooking.||The bus stops right outside and it is cheaper to buy the day pass online. We walked the path form the property down on our first day but it is pretty tough going and not for the faint hearted. ||We loved the pool area and enjoyed a dip each day. it I heated so that was helpful as Sintra can be a little cooler than Lisbon (which was a good thing!). Come prepared for all weather. Don't fall for the tuk tuk drivers...use the circular bus and it's super easy to get around.||Thankyou Armie for being such an...

Read moreWe arrived quite early, hoping to just leave our bags, and were greeted warmly by the owner, Rodrigo, who showed us around the property. They rushed to get our accommodations ready, and while we waited, Armie gave us delicious homemade chocolate cake. Great start!||The property is lovely and quiet. Sintra is crowded, so it was nice to get away from the hordes. We didn't have a car, so we got around by walking or by Bolt. There is a shaded walk through the woods into town. One thing to be aware of is that it is uphill coming back. We made the climb multiple times, but we are fairly fit. The guesthouse is only a 7-minute drive from Pena Palace.||You can see the sea in the distance from the heated pool. Breakfast is very good. On request, Armie will prepare a very good dinner for you in the garden with views of Pena Palace.||We stayed in the Casa da Burra, which we loved--very private, extremely modern inside with a kitchen and washer. It is very attractively decorated. .||One last comment--Armie manages the place and also cooks breakfast and dinner. She speaks English beautifully and is absolutely charming. She made our stay especially nice. Every hotel should have an Armie. We would stay here again...
