I have never experienced worse service than what I experienced at this cafe. The staff were unbelievably rude and unhelpful when we ordered our food. The lady with the dark hair and glasses who served us had a terrible attitude, made faces and was very rude when we were ordering food and drinks. My friends ordered in English and I ordered in Portuguese. We were perfectly friendly only to be met with terrible rudeness that made us feel really uncomfortable. We also observed the same attitude with other customers.

The food was not great either. I ordered the duck and rice and it was very plain tasting and not well presented. Very disappointing given the €19 price tag. When I asked for salt I was also met with a very rude waitress who obliged grudgingly.

The setting of the Cafe is beautiful but the service and food means I would recommend avoiding this place except maybe for a drink if you can stand the attitude of the staff. There are plenty of lovely cafes and restaurants in Sintra Town that I would recommend visiting for a better experience.

I never leave negative reviews and I am really not that fussy about service but my experience meant I had to write this so people...

the WORST meal of my life. i never write restaurant reviews but this experience was so bad that i feel it is my duty to warn whoever intends to set foot in this place. it started off with the rude waiter at the entrance, who seemed almost annoyed at the mere request for a table, as if it wasnt their job. we then ordered tapas for two, bread with chorizo and an egg wrap. the tapas were awful, worst cured meat of my life. the prosciutto was green and old, not to mention the strange bright pink "salame" that tasted radioactive. even the olives were bad, and covered in something white that we could not identify. the "egg, ham and cheese" wrap contained egg and some unidentified meat, and wasnt even toasted or lightly cooked on the outside. the bread with chorizo was a small tasteless loaf with a thin slice of ham in it. we tried to order the least expensive things and still spent way too much, for the worst quality and smallest quantity of food we could've imagined. this service doesn't even classify as eating, it is merely an attempt to not die of hunger, if you can manage to get this food in your stomach...

INCREDIBLY RUDE STAFF. My friends and I came to sit a table to rest and eat our lunch. Being that we keep kosher, we brought our own food, not knowing that these tables are only for the restaurant and are not general tables for the public. As we were taking out our food, the waitress came over to tell us that we can't eat here. We tried explaining that we can't order the food, but we understand if we have to move. We asked her if there was another area where we can eat, being that food is prohibited in the other areas. She responded by calling over her boss who came and yelled at us, loudly attracting a lot of attention and making a scene. We tried to tell her that we understood and would be moving but we wanted to know where else we can eat. She continued to berate us and only then informed us that there were no other eating areas around. We left quickly, but we were quite embarrassed and disturbed by the behavior of...

This café is part of the iconic Regaleira Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its romantic and mysterious architecture. Loved the octopus salad, turkey and salmon sandwiches too. Our waiter was friendly and extremely polite. The café itself is small but cozy, with indoor and outdoor seating available. Its decor is elegant and stylish, featuring vintage furniture and delicate porcelain tableware. They've a variety of delicious pastries, cakes, and light meals, along with a great selection of coffee and tea. The menu also includes several traditional Portuguese delicacies, such as the famous pastel de nata. What makes Café da Regaleira truly special, however, is its location. The café offers stunning views of the palace's lush gardens and the surrounding hills of Sintra. It's the perfect spot to relax and soak up the atmosphere after a long day of exploring.

I’m sorry, but I have nothing good to say about this place. I don’t recommend it at all. I mean… €12 for three pieces of mozzarella and a few cherry tomatoes?! I get that it’s inside an attraction, but still… it really puts you off the whole experience. And the service was terrible. The staff looked annoyed at any interaction with customers, even with those who didn’t talk to them. How is that even possible? Even when we paid, they were rude. I mean, we ate your not-so-good food and still paid for it, can you at least let us leave in peace? I don’t recommend this place, except maybe if you want an industrial ice cream… but even then, the staff looked annoyed, so…

We pick our places by reviews usually but I was so hungry and tired so we tired the café. They had 2 dishes plus salads I could have that were gluten free and I choose the stewed veal (vitela estufada - beef, veggies and potato dish) and it was really good. Yes it was on the expensive side (17€) so that’s the reason for 4/5 stars, but the quality and amount of meat and flavors were great. We didn’t have to wait for a table, and everyone was super friendly with quick service. We were here in the beginning of May so maybe for the summer crowds but had a very good experience.
