An Unforgettable Lunch at Fatto da Claudio Coelho
During our family vacation in Portugal, we had the absolute pleasure of enjoying a remarkable lunch at Fatto da Claudio Coelho, and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip. Coming all the way from Denmark, we had high expectations, and this restaurant exceeded them in every way imaginable.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly and attentive staff who made us feel right at home. Their warm service added an extra layer of enjoyment to what was already shaping up to be a wonderful meal.
The food was nothing short of spectacular. Every dish that came to our table was full of authentic, vibrant flavors, and it was clear that the freshest ingredients were being used. The precision and passion in the kitchen were evident, making every bite a true pleasure. (Special reference to a new dish that we got to try which was not yet in the menu - polenta with truffle sauce…. Wow… it was perfect)
What made this lunch even more special was the opportunity to meet Chef Claudio himself. His dedication to authentic Italian cuisine was inspiring, and he took the time to personally greet us, sharing his love for the craft. It’s rare to meet a chef as talented as Claudio, who also makes such a genuine effort to connect with guests. His warmth and hospitality made the entire experience even more memorable.
As we neared the end of our meal, we were already thoroughly impressed, but the dessert truly elevated the experience to perfection. Each bite was a revelation, carefully balancing sweetness with delicate flavors that left us completely satisfied without feeling too indulgent. It wasn’t just a dessert – it was the grand finale, thoughtfully crafted to leave a lasting impression. The textures, the subtlety of flavors, and the beautiful presentation all came together in a way that was both refined and comforting, the perfect conclusion to an extraordinary meal.
As a family from Denmark, we felt truly well taken care of throughout the meal. The service was exceptional, with thoughtful recommendations and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made our lunch feel extra special. The personal touch of meeting Chef Claudio elevated an already outstanding meal to something we’ll remember for a long time.

We arrived at 8 pm, waited for someone to direct us to a table, we said we preferred a table outside (there were several available), and someone (who seemed to be the owner, not sure) answered us in an arrogant tone: "I can't allow my employees to serve you out here, they might catch the flu". It was 18 degrees Celsius. The waiter still looked at us like we were crazy and turned his back away. Extreme arrogance, terrible!
Ps : Complementing the response of the restaurant: there was no insistence on our part to sit outside. We only mentioned once our preference to sit outside and we immediately received this rude answer and the chef turned his back on us. The restaurant's attitude was totally unmotivated ! We understand they may have their rules , but there is no need to spit them out to the customers and turn their back away. We didn’t ask for anything out of the ordinary . It was 18 degrees and all the other restaurants in the area were filled with customers sitting outside . I repeat : we only asked ONCE , and the chef gave us that rude answer and turned his back away. I also suggest that you collect the tables from the outside on cold days, so as not to confuse customers lacking common...
Read morePicky American eater here to tell you this place was AMAZING! Quick, friendly and efficient service. The staff help each other and treat you kindly. The food was GREAT, made quickly and delicious. I ate a very simple meat lasagna and Margherita pizza. My fellow diners had a variety of meals from burgers to steaks to salads that looked amazing. The price was even better 23 euros for two meals; drinks not included. The location is beautiful and very close to the town center. I highly recommend this place!
Update! I went back the next day for lunch, another amazing experience! I hate the spaghetti bolognese with meat sauce and the Pomodoro anti pasta both of which were also AMAZING (hence the missing piece I was too eager to eat before taking the picture!).
