A Surprise in Sintra!
While we booked this place for a short stay only because we are GHA Discovery Loyalty members, we were in for a big surprise treat. Though the property looked a bit dated from the outside, we were treated to a super luxury experience from the minute we stepped in until we checked out – especially thanks to the wonderful hospitality of the entire staff! Highly recommend a night at this place, especially if you can manage to get one of the lovely rooms with a view of the town and nature.
LOCATION: Located right next to the Main Palace at the center of the old town and walkable from all key points of interest.
DINE + DRINK: The Breakfast at the 3rd-floor restaurant was absolutely worth waking up for. Not the usual boring breakfast you get in most European hotels, but a lovely array of fine delicatessen and high-quality chef-prepared food!
ROOM: We stayed in Room 800, which was a SUITE room, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Nice big room with a lovely Living area that came with a huge couch and coffee table. The bedroom area was spacious enough too with enough closet space; VIEW: Lovely view of most of the attractions(Palace, Quita Regaria, etc) as well as the cityscape from the wonderful big balcony attached to the room; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Wonderful spa quality Toiletries that enhanced the luxuriating experience
FACILITIES: Very decent fitness center (which was a surprise, as it is hard to find such good gyms in city center hotels!) that we were not aware of until we arrived. Was a big bonus.
SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout-out to PATRICIA (the Hotel manager) who helped in not just enhancing the stay but also expressing the finest hospitality with so many personalized touches to the décor in the room as well as welcome gifts! Thanks also to ANDRE and FRANCISCO at the front desk for attending to all our needs (and proactively helping with so many things) with a big smile!
HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is good! Big Smart TV dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in...
Read moreAs a typically reserved Brit, I embarked on my recent holiday abroad with a mix of excitement and apprehension. Venturing beyond the comforts of my homeland always stirs up a few butterflies in my stomach. However, I can wholeheartedly say that my stay at the Hotel NH Sintra Centro has been nothing short of exceptional.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by the warmest of smiles from the staff, which instantly put my shy disposition at ease. It's funny how a friendly welcome can make all the difference.
My room, well, it was picturesque. I must admit, I had some preconceived notions about the rooms abroad, but this one was a pleasant surprise. The view from my balcony was simply breath taking – a captivating panorama of the ocean that put me in a state of awe.
One of the highlights of my stay was the impeccable service. The hotel staff, though always attentive, had a remarkable knack for respecting my personal space. Being a shy individual, I appreciate when people are attentive without being intrusive, and they certainly struck that balance beautifully. It made me feel like I could relax and unwind without any undue pressure.
The dining experience was another triumph. The restaurant offered a diverse menu, with a selection of both local and international dishes. As a bit of a foodie, I took it upon myself to sample as much as possible, and I was never disappointed.
In conclusion, my stay at Hotel NH Sintra Centro was an unforgettable experience for a shy British traveller like me. The combination of warm hospitality and the beauty of the destination made it a truly special holiday. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat with a touch of elegance while exploring the wonders of the world. It's a gem I will treasure in my travel memories for...
Read moreNot impressed.
At all.
Driving to this place is a nightmare. The roads are very narrow. People park illegally and nothing is done about it. The construction taking place just in front of the hotel makes this whole situation even more abominable. After that, getting to the hotel's parking lot is an even bigger nightmare, and once you get in it the parking area spaces are tiny. The hotel had to send someone with me to show me how to get into their parking structure. It is awful and I never want to do that again.
Check-in to the hotel was uneventful. Not a lot of conversation with staff. Took the elevator to our room and was very disappointed. We were given a room at the end of the hotel farthest from any possible view of the valley and the area downhill from the city. What we did get is a room over the street, with no view of anything except the street and people parking and talking and just generally gossiping until very late in the evening. Mind you, the hotel did not appear to have that many guests, so I do not know why we were stuck where we were. I asked the desk about this and they had no answer.
Photos of the room and our view and the restaurant are all attached below. The meal at the restaurant was satisfactory, albeit a little slow. And we were the only diners in the restaurant.
I would not stay here ...
