Joe — Hotel in Bucharest

I usually avoid using big words when writing reviews, but this was THE WORST experience I have ever had. After tens of rentals across Romania and the Europe, I found the most impolite and rude host. And paired with a room that didn't meet the expectactions :D.

Good parts: the location and prices were good the bed was confortable and the bathroom was ok we didn't had any issue with cleaniness

Bad parts: only cash and we weren't registered anywhere we got chewed off for arriving later than we mentioned after we arrived, the owner told us (well, you know you booked the room late) and then gave us a basement room with no phone connectivite, no network connectivity, no wify signal and less than half of tv programs working. in the second day there, we left to eat and we didn't close the gate properly (he found it open after a few minutes) and called me angry about it. A very "polite" and "profesional" call, nevertheless I had to leave one day early due to unforseen circumstances and my girlfriend stayed. She called a friend to come over to stay and sleep there. The owner was rude to them when they entered the building and said that no guests were allowed, even if I left (fair point - his house, his rules). What struck them was the rudeness. He said that the friend can stay if he pays one room. After a little talk between them, they agreed to pay the room, but the owner did not want to her any of it and said it's not allowing him to enter the house (nothing shady about the friend and I have no ideea where his issues started). Then the owner TOOK THE KEY from my girfriends hand and told her to call her if she wants to enter the house - he did not trust her, a 27 years old woman, to respect the rules he told them in an awful tone.

Nevertheless, they left the property that night. They found a nice room with all the appliances and the network signal that were missing from the previous place, but without the drama and the rude owner.

Never have I ever been so embarassed by a host like this. Neither me, nor my girlfriend. I am sorry for the nice cat that...

I am writing to formally raise concerns about my recent experience at JOE hostel ( Bucharest) Unfortunately, my experience has been marred by several serious issues:

Discriminatory Behavior: It has come to my attention that the hostel manager, has exhibited behavior that suggests racial bias. This has made me and my wife feel unwelcome and uncomfortable during our checkin. False Information About Amenities: Prior to my arrival, I was informed that the rooms were equipped with functional air conditioning. However, the air conditioner in my room has not been working as promised, and despite multiple requests , the issue remains unresolved and hostel manager told us he will not solve and if we want to leave leave Unpleasant Treatment: In addition to the issues above, the manager has consistently shown unprofessional and unkind behavior towards guests, contributing to a negative atmosphere...

I've stayed at this hostel for one night with my friend and while the price range is great, the owner didn't ask us to sign any documents so that means he was evading the taxes. I would also mention that he was rude. We asked for a blanket because there was only one in the room and he almost yelled at us saying he gave us a three bed room for the same price as a double room and we should use one single blanket. (If it's three bed room how are we supposed to use only one?). After looking a bit closely, we noticed that the room was very dirty, especially the bathroom (water leakage and the shower limestone).
