What can I say about this pub/restaurant. Minus 2 stars would be even a lot to describe it. My experience was far than bad. Our travelling group proposed we go next to our hotel for a quick drink. It was 22:30 and according to the Internet, they closed at 00:00 so, we decided to go. As soon as we arrived, we asked if there was a table available for 9 people in order to drink something quick or if we needed to have made a reservation first. They replied to us that we could sit but, the kitchen was closing. So, there were only drinks available at the time. Not really a problem for us. Anyway, we only wanted to have a quick drink. They guided us to ask a lady working there as a waitress to show us where to sit. Asking her politely a table for 9 people to drink something. She looked at us irritated and left without even replying. Then, we went to the person in charge, told him that we were not able to talk to the lady and if he could indicate to us where to sit. He told us to just look for something and sit. After finding a table for 7, we sat there. He came and told us that maybe someone was outside smoking so it would be better to find another table just to be sure (the table was empty). We replied positively and in order to avoid using a “taken” already table, we once again, went to the lady asking a table for 9. At that point, she angrily looked back at us and said table for 9! Are you serious? (Many tables were empty) Anyway, we decided to look for one on our own since the time was already 22:50 and we were wandering around the pub for almost 20 minutes without results (they were closing at 00:00 and we anyway wanted to have a quick drink and leave). Finding an empty table with about 13 chairs, we sat there. As soon as we sat in order to wait for the other members of the group to arrive, the gentleman came again telling us that we cannot sit there as the table might have been taken (the table was empty! No items on it and no one was sitting outside to “smoke”) but again, we said ok. No problem we will sit at the table next to it which was smaller but, also empty. Then, angrily the gentleman replied back to us telling us:” no, you cannot sit. What do you not understand? We cannot serve you and since you are staying at the hotel in front of our pub, why you came here? Their bar operates 24/7!”. (The time was already 23:00 but, they were closing at 00:00) Anyway, I replied that they could just have said it from the start 30min ago. Then the rest of the group came and we explained to our newly made friends what happened. Since it was 23:15 and we had 45min until closing time, they said don’t leave a “weird” employee bully you. We have been coming to this pub every time we visit Bucharest and don’t worry, there will be no problem. They got inside since they knew them, they greeted them and sat at a table. No one said anything to them as they did with us a little while ago. Then we sat as well since it was already 23:20. We ordered. Just to get even with us they on purpose delayed bringing us our beers. When the time was about 23:45, they finally brought our beers and right after that, they started closing the lights. So, we drunk hastily our beers and left without ever again wanting to visit that place. I went for a quick beer at 22:30, only to manage to get one at 23:45 finally, and by being looked angrily like they were doing me a favor. I paid for it and their job was to just help me find a table for 9 at 22:30 when I actually arrived. Don’t really know how things work in Bucharest but in Greece, when a client asks for a table and the shop closes 1,5hours later, they actually offer a table to the client. Ι visited the pub on Saturday 25th of February 2023 from 22:30 to 23:55. I do not want anyone to get scolded. Everyone works for their living. I just cannot understand why all this hostility in serving us a beer since, we were polite, mentioned that we were going to have a quick drink and only asked for a table at a time that the pub was still open and served customers. Nothing more,...
Read moreI went to this place 2 times (2-3 weeks apart). The first time, we were 2 people. The waiter who got our order was very polite and did his job perfectly (read the order out loud, after we finished the 2 beers, he asked us if he could bring another). The food was impeccable each time. The authentic taste of the grill was there, the steak was juicy, done medium-rare, just perfectly salty. They have lots of options of food and I believe anyone can eat in the restaurant (they even have vegetarian/vegan options). The first time I would have given a perfect 5/5. However, the second time, I went along with 5 other people and was a totally different experience. The food was again perfect and nobody had nothing bad to say about it. Unfortunately, I had a shock with the waitress which was designated to our table because the first time i was treated with so much respect. The waitress got our order wrong by forgetting to note down a person's order. This could've been avoided by just repeating out loud the order to us, to make sure she got everything right (like the first waiter did with ONLY 2 PEOPLE). She could have let the thing as they were by apologising, but she chose to say "I asked you if you wanted anything else" At the end, we wanted to split the bill in 6, each one to pay what consumed. We appreciate a lot the fact that they did that, because they are not obliged and it is not easy to split a check in 6. But again the waitress had another poor choice of words: "Can't someone pay it all and then split the money among yourselves?" We went to the reception desk to pay. The receptionist asked if we wanted to leave a tip on the card payment(personally I believe that asking for a tip represents greed but others may consider otherwise). He asked if there were any problems during our visit, and I presented what happened because I thought he wanted to make this place better. After I explained why we won't leave any tips, the receptionist, instead of apologising for the experience we have had, like anyone would have done, saw us a group of 18-19 year olds, and chose to be very petty. I'll leave some of the comments here made down below: "We wait for you in our field of work to see how it is to be a waiter." "Be careful because what comes around comes around petty laugh "(context: that came because I chose to leave him my honest review on how we felt and he explained that what I said felt like a reproach.). "It's your duty as a client to take the tax receipt as it is mine to give it to you." (he said that after a friend of mine didn't want to take the receipt. I don't think this line was needed after such a poor serving). To conclude, the 2 experiences differed very much. If 1 was impeccable with no mistake made, the second one was very disrespectful and full of poor choices of words and pettiness. I agree that all people make mistakes, but in such a high rated restaurant I believe there should not be room for error. However, the food was impeccable and I highly recommend going to this restaurant to eat a qualitative peace of steak/pork or any...
Read moreI've had my eye on this place for a while, really wanted to visit it one day. (High google rating, nice comments about the staff and food quality). Today I came over and faced really unpleasant service of completely unprofessional waiter. Male with short gray hair in his mid 50s. Goes by the name "Dan". At least that's what it's claimed to be in the check. So here it goes. Upon our arrival he didn't even bother to turn his head and talk to us. We asked what tables are free, he said "the orange ones". Okay. We sat at the table. He didn't take the "reserved" sign off. Maybe he had a bad day or smth. I don't really know and don't want to know. The guy THREW the menus at the table. He talked to us disrespectfully, he was actually rolling his eyes when taking orders. No one requires for him to speak perfect English, but he was answering our questions very reluctantly, with disregard. When I asked for the straws for our drinks, he grabbed and handed me handful of straws , about 15 or so. It's one of those times you don't feel like a customer, really. It's also the first time in my life I see the cafe staff sitting by the tables in the customer zone, chatting about something, discussing news, eating something. The floor was dirty and covered with nutshells. My burger had a piece of hair in it. Not wishing to argue with anyone, knowing I'm a foreigner, I simply removed the hair and stuffed the burger down. When we finished our meal no one approached us for good 10 minutes ( the place was at about 25 percent of it's capacity, so not much work obviously). The guy who served us food (thanks for not throwing those burgers in our faces, BTW) didn't even approach us to collect the plates and bring the check. He simply walked by, as if not noticing me showing him it's time to bring the check. Another guy approached us and asked how will we pay. We paid with card and left. FYI, this is the place with MANDATORY TIP. You can't refuse paying that. My advice, PLEASE avoid this place. The experience spoiled my mood for long time, I'll tell all my friends here in Bucharest not to visit it and not to get a takeout from the place. The service is unquestionably 0 out of 5. The burgers are NOT as good as claimed to be. The FRIES are not included in the price of the burger.
I'm wishing to every traveler to have good vacation in Bucharest and to not encounter such...
