Old Kitchen — Restaurant in Bucharest

A great experience! Here, you can find old tools used in both the Romanian and the Hungarian kitchen, with plates and embroidered towels placed near or on the walls. The food is just amazing: we had some chicken with sour cherry sauce and puree and smoked sausages with red cabbage and puree. Plus some amazing deserts: one with honey and the other one a Hungarian one "Somloi". Also, the owners are there, taking orders and doing great service for the clients. The place is cosy, with just a few tables inside the restaurant. We admired that they remained a small business, as they started the business 10 years ago, as we were thinking about their brand and how difficult it is to control the quality of food, of service and everything when the scale is higher. Following the extatic feedback (in Romanian) of my first visit, here is a more composed one, as I've returned there multiple times already: I repeat, the goulash is excellent, and the plum dumplings - to die for, or to kill for. Actually, everything I have picked from the menu ever since my first visit was delicious. It is one of the few places where I have this home-cooking feel. Even the risky-on-paper choices (like the chicken with sour cherry sauce, pictured) are safe bets. The place is spacious and just the right size and the atmosphere is super cosy, garnished with cool decorations and great music (courtesy of a well-chosen online radio station). I was there on a Saturday afternoon looking forward to trying their goulash everyone raved aboout, the restaurant was half full and I asked if I could be seated. The waitress stared at me for a couple of seconds before saying "I'm very busy,no table" I asked if I could have it togo instead, to which she appeared annoyed and replied " no we're busy" I asked how long it'll take and I can come back in an hour to pick it up. She became frustrated, smirked and said " maybe 2-3 hours or maybe no". I just walked out at that point.
