Location is indeed near the city center and offers competitive prices, but in a street under construction and not that nice of a neighborhood. Staff and owners were helpful and offered guidance with taxis and flights.
Our room 505 was without a lock on the front door. Furniture such as closets and cabinets all old, creaky and looking like they were salvaged from other forclosed hotels and businesses.
The shower was one of those equipped with massage jets, radio, phone etc. None worked. Original showerhead was missing, side jets were scaly and rusty, the controls were broken. Instead they installed a separate small showerhead with its base attachement fixed and not adjustable, so you can't point it where you want or adjust for height difference between me and my wife. Hot water is not immidiate and take a minute to reach you. The base of the shower closet had cracks fixed with silicone caulking which became moldy. The sink is miniature and the faucet is so low you can barely fit in your hands under it. The toilet was placed such that when you sit, your right leg is stuck in the sink cabinet, that is just baffling.
The bed had a mattress so old, flimsy and thin that we felt individual springs against our backs. Pillow were old and rock hard, you couldn't bend them. TV monitor is 10 years old, not even 720p. Closet doors were so bent old and offset that they wont open all the way. Clothes hangers were just and assortment of different ones, not 2 were alike. The finishing in the room's walls and different parts was abysmal, bad painting and dry wall installation. There were some moldy and damp parts on the drywall.
Overall, looked like it was thrown together from salvaged parts and quick construction. Was not a pleasant experience to stay in.
Cherry on top, there was an AC unit only far in the living room, only heating radiator in the bed room, which didn't work, and it was cold.
Would not recommend. I wish i took pictures but it was a short...
Read moreDuring my first day at the hotel, the concierge mentioned that my checkout date coincided with her upcoming birthday. She playfully requested a gift and I obliged with a new microwave oven (seriously). However, my stay wasn't that great. The shower in my room had some maintenance issues. Moreover, the particle board frame of the bed cracked when I sat on its corner, revealing a need for furniture upgrades. Another issue was the hotel's room cleaning schedule, which was limited to once a week. Also, the absence of heating in the room was somewhat uncomfortable, especially during the recent colder weather. The breakfast option was available at a price of 60 lei, but I found it more cost-effective to order a meal from McDonald's via Glovo delivery. Fresh fruit was displayed on the counter but seemed off-limits. On one occasion, I was even told that the fruit was for their cocktails, and I shouldn’t take too many. Eventually, I decided to just watch the fruit as it slowly rotted on the counter. Another inconsistency was the 10% discount on takeaway coffee; it wasn't always honored. Furthermore, a bottle of Romanian wine priced at 35 lei in the local market costs 70 lei at the hotel bar. During my stay, I couldn't help but notice some staff members drinking alcoholic beverages from the bar at various times throughout the day. When the shower wasn't malfunctioning, its seals had a tendency to leak, making for occasional wet bathroom floors. Despite the issues I encountered, I empathized with one of the cleaning ladies and spontaneously gave her 400 lei as a gift. Similarly, I tipped the hotel driver 50 lei for his services and even offered to personally contribute to the repair of the bed, demonstrating my commitment to improving my stay. I left a very good review on Airbnb. Nevertheless, to my surprise, the hotel left a negative review for me on Airbnb, which I found to be unexpected and...
