Please note that they do indeed advertise a discount for positive TripAdvisor reviews (????), and I didn't take it. This is an honest review.||||The best thing about this place besides the price is the convenient location -- once you find it. The website's English description wasn't entirely up-to-date, so it was a little tricky. The issue is that you find yourself in a parking lot, and if you don't read Cyrillic, you'll think you're in the wrong place. So: Go past Bosfor (Босфор) restaurant, as described, and make a right, straight into the parking lot. Look up at the building in front of you, and you will see a sign for the hotel in the window: Отель Булгаков. Go around this building to the left and then turn around to the right The door to the hotel will be behind you, with another sign (Отель Булгаков) in Russian. It's weird because every other door in sight is a random back door of some other establishment, and you're in a parking lot surrounded by cars and a dumpster. You'd think they could put up a clearer sign or two, especially for tourists who don't read or speak Russian.||||Anyway, the place is fine for the money and is clean and tries to be cute, but yes, the rooms are truly small. (And I live in NYC and am used to tiny apartments.) Also, our bathroom door (which was really just a plastic slider) was broken, so there was no privacy. ||||To be fair, this wasn't their fault, but the city shut off the hot water in the neighborhood for the first day and a half of our stay, so we had to take ice cold showers in what was already a really uncomfortable, difficult bathroom. They offered us one free breakfast after I mentioned the situation, but it was not very good, and we had to eat it off the windowsill while perched on the bed because there was literally nowhere else to go in the room.||||Staff were friendly. Heads up: They don't all speak English, so be prepared to use Google translate or practice your Russian.||||If you're on a budget, it's fine. if you can spend more, it's...
Read moreWe were NOT offered a discount for a good review, as other reviewers seem to have been. ||||That said, this place deserves a good review anyway. We found this to be a nice place to spend a night. As regular visitors to Moscow, we are not big fans of the extremely touristy Arbat, but its proximity to Kievskaya station made this location ideal for us (and for transport to Vnukovo airport). ||||We stayed in a double ensuite room which was absolutely tiny but clean and comfortable. As other reviewers have stated, the shower and the toilet are in close proximity without a curtain. The trick is to move the toilet paper out of the bathroom (so it doesn't get wet) and to aim the shower away from the toilet. ||||The entrance to the hotel is not on the Arbat. One must go a little way down per. Plotnikov and then into a little gated courtyard. The sign for the Bulgakov is in Cyrillic, so I would recommend memorising that if you are not a Russian speaker. ||||Overall, this is a nice, inexpensive hotel in a central location. Lots of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity, too, if you don't mind being in the tourist...
Read moreI've been here for 4 nights and I haven't slept because of the noise the receptionists made. Also, I couldn't find the TV remote controller and I asked for it 3 times, at first they said "0h, you've already lost it" and no, I was there from 5 min so I couldn't have lost it. BTW, they didn't even looked for it because I found it under the bed when I was leaving. They are rude, they don't say hello, they look like I was annoying them staying there.|Room very very small, I didn't even have a wardrobe. Also, if you pay they'll bring you breakfast but you don't have space for eating. I went every morning in a different bar and it was much way better and funnier. |I could pee while I was showering, very small bathroom. Bring your own shampoo and shower cream, they offer you kits used by others and they smell sooo bad.|There isn't the elevator. And I had 4 luggages.|The only right point is where it's located: near everything. But it's good only when you can find it, not even the taxi man found it.||So, never again. And please, if you want a good journey and A GOOD SLEEP, don't you dare going in...
