The short version is that the location is good on the bus route and is within walkable distance of the waterfront and its awesome shopping mall. There is food available on the street in front of the hotel. The hotel meets basic needs. It is dated and tired-looking however for the price I can happily live with that and would gladly stay there again without hesitation. ||The booking for my teenage daughter and myself went smoothly online. |Air Serbia changed our flight and the hotel was able to change our booking accordingly with no fuss.||My sister who studies there had stayed there when she first arrived in Belgrade and recommended it.||On arrival the driveway is also the parking lot. This means that if coming through with a lot of baggage that it can be a bit of a slalom course making it from the pavement to the front door. ||If you bring your own car, it means parking is limited and if someone parks behind you it will not be possible to get out without their car being moved. ||There is and awkward step required to get into the front door which could benefit from a small ramp to help with rolling luggage. ||The lobby is small and no frills with a small seating area and is adjacent to the dining room. ||The reception staff were approachable and spoke good English which was a big help as I know almost no Serbian and was struggling to learn it from my efforts before the trip thus, I was limited to a few polite words like please and thank you and unable to make conversation in Serbian. Be aware there is a tourist tax to pay on arrival. ||There is a small lift which was handy for checking in and checking out with luggage. |On moving from the lift to the room there was only a short transit and the room locks worked well.||The room was simple and met our needs having ample closet space however no hangers. There was a writing desk which I used for meals and a fridge under the desk which was put to good use during the trip to store food and milk. My balding dome had no need of the hair dryer so I did not try it out.||The room overlooked the carpark/driveway and the street which was good enough to allow me to assess how busy the street was and get a sense of the weather.|The beds were comfortable however the pillows were not at all plump even when I stacked a couple of them so on my next trip, I will vacuum pack my own pillow from home. ||The bathroom is where the shabbiness was felt. The sink was not properly fixed to the wall so moved if I pressed on it. The sink was large enough for me to do laundry. There was enough shelf space adjacent to it to store items and for me to hang my medium sized washbag.||The shower enclosure was tight to the point of almost being tight and sliding lass doors opened on 2 sides as the only way of getting into and out of it. The doors kept derailing which was the other problem apart from the sink’s instability. There was plenty of hot water and housekeeping provided a good supply of clean plush towels. There was some disintegration of the lower door and soffit level.||There was sometimes the faint smell of smoke in the corridors as there is smoking going on is some parts of the hotel and presumably rooms as the hotel is not smoke free. It is something I have no tolerance for however as it did not seep into the room it did not pose a problem and would not discourage me from staying here again.|The housekeepers were prompt and their work was good.||Our stay was comfortable, hardly any noise and the blackout curtain for the large window worked well.||There is a Maxi supermarket and a few eating places on the street in front which we used.||We did not use the hotel buffet as it was a bit basic and options limited although the chap in the dining room was welcoming and professional. ||Checkout was smooth and the hotel arranged the taxi to the airport for us for a reasonable price based on what I have been told. ||Overall...
Read moreWe came to Belgrade to participate in the international chess tournament. Hotel Rex was one of the three hotels with which the tournament organization had provided an offer and of these three it was the cheapest. Overall we are satisfied with our choice. The hotel is located outside the real center of Belgrade, but within walking distance. The decor is a bit dated but the rooms are quite large and clean. The cleaning ladies are very friendly and cooperative. The breakfast is not exclusive but more than sufficient in terms of choice and quantity plus quality. The internet worked well. The service at the reception was okay. The service on the outdoor terrace, especially by the youngest waiter, was very friendly. Overall very nice staff, most of whom speak decent to good English.||The outdoor terrace is quite nice. It's just a pity that with temperatures approaching 40 degrees, there is no ventilation. The second small downside is that the table in the room has a drawer, which, with a slightly larger length, prevents you from easily bringing your knees under the table top when working on the laptop. Overall, Hotel Rex offers a reasonably comfortable place and a friendly environment to stay at a reasonable price. Definitely consider staying again on your next stay in Belgrade.||Another remark. The hotel has its own free parking. Limited in scope. That's why, if they expect problems, they sometimes ask if you want to hand over the car keys and they can move the car. I have not experienced any problems myself. I have found the service from the staff to be good and friendly with the young waiter as an...
Read moreDEFINITELY DO NOT COME HERE. The worst hotel I have ever been to. What was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime has turned into the worst experience because of Hotel. I checked out at 12. And I told them I wanted a taxi and how much it would cost. They said no problem we'll take you at 2. I took out some money and waited until 2. The man is not there. I wait 45 minutes. Nobody comes. I tell them I've been waiting for an hour. They knew what time I had the flight. They tell me they'll call me a taxi and then they say there's no taxi. That I have to find my way with the buses. The bus It takes another hour and a half. And I was going so slow that I didn't make it to the flight on time. What's the result? I've lost the money for all the flights, the activities. My accommodation in other places. We're Talking about almost 1000 euros. Now I see myself alone, crying, something that had never happened to me before on a trip. Without having anywhere to sleep. Just because of their lack of seriousness and empathy. And the receptionist was not even there. Able to say thank you, see you later, nothing. Never again here. I hope that if they travel one day, the same thing happens to them. And all the money I'm going to have to...
