Very good reasonably priced hotel in the centre of the city. Location is good, but not really historical part of the city. There is mostly residential area around, there is some 10-15 walking distance to real historical centre with cafes and shops. Clean, average size rooms, clean and good working bathrooms with very good toiletries. I did not try air conditioning, as the fresh air in the centre of Bratislava is good and the hotel is in quiet area. But, if your room is facing the front of the hotel beware garbage truck coming for collection at 5 am. There is a spa and there is nice and very spacious terrace at the back of the hotel, completely secluded and where you can smoke. The staff if very friendly and professional, thank you! The bar is cosy and nice, but choice of drinks needs to be wider for the lever of the hotel.
Restaurant is quite good, but you are most recommended to book in advance at least in the morning because it is being used by locals coming for a lunch or for a diner for its quality and residents of the hotel do not have any privilege. On the evening of my arrival I was not able to have a dinner at the hotel as the restaurant was fully booked and there was no other option except room service, which looked quite nice, but I do not like to eat in my room. I had to explore the area myself by food and there is not a big choice of quality restaurants and cafes around. Mostly bars. The restaurant does not change menu and does not have special meal of the day. So, if you are staying for more than couple of days you have to choose from the same menu. Breakfast is very good though,...
Read moreMarrol's is firmly pitching at the 5-star market, and in the main it achieves this comfortably, all at a reasonable price. Firstly, Bratislava has plenty of hotel choices, many with very good ratings, so choosing a suitable one was a bit of a project in itself. Location is good, although not the best, being slightly out of the old town (however, by slightly we are only looking at 3-minute walk). Bratislava is compact, so you aren’t ever too far from where you want to be. Check-in was proficient, with a complimentary glass of fizz to settle us in. The rooms are well appointed, with the more inexpensive rooms facing onto the open terrace area. This to me, was a plus point, as the view from the front of the hotel isn’t all that, whereas the terrace makes for a nice outlook and you even get the afternoon sun. Smart Tv as standard and a free mini-bar with beer and soft drinks (perfect for taking out onto the garden terrace to sit in the sun). Breakfast was really nice. Sparkling wine, salmon, hot/cold food, all good quality. Service was a bit hectic on one of the mornings, but we got there in the end. All in all we were happy with our choice, and we would happily return – no matter what time of year (outside space in the summer, and real fires in the communal lounge...
Read moreMy partner and I have just returned to the United Kingdom after having a trip to Europe, the final destination of our travels was at the very beautiful and picturesque hotel. The hotel is very well situated to river and minutes away from the Old Town. The interior is beautiful and the decor clearly reflects the reason why it’s a highly rated hotel. Our room was situated on the second floor and there is a lift for those who overindulge in the cuisine or infamous Slovak wines 😁 the staff are all smarty presented in their appearance and polite, the breakfast is varied and it is self service even the hot/cold drinks, so please bare that in mind if you’re mobility is restricted when dining in the restaurant for breakfast. The only negative I can recall, and this is no reflection of the hotel, the hospitality or staff as it was “other guests” having no consideration for guests still in their slumber or at least trying to be. Guests would allow their room doors to slam closed and guests would talk loudly on the corridor throughout the evening/night/morning. So next time I’d probably request a room on the top floor to avoid the...
