Pros:||The location is very convenient to get to/from the bus and train station, and therefore the tatras for hiking. The bed was comfortable and the sleeping/living area was a fair size. The “hotel” is above a restaurant so this is also convenient for eating dinner, as not many places in Poprad seem to be open apart from here. There is also a large common area on the 1st floor, like you’d find in a hostel, where you can sit and eat your own food.||||Cons:||The cleanliness was really poor - it seemed as if the room had been empty for some time and no one bothered to freshen it up before my arrival. It was very dusty, the bed covers smelled of damp, the glass provided for me to drink from was dirty, there were silverfish in the bathroom and a lot of moths all over. This was also true for the separate common area/kitchen, where most notably there was mould growing in the fridge. Neither the bedroom nor common room was cleaned during my 4 night stay. The bathroom is also super small, you really have to squeeze in to get to the sink and mirror, and the bathroom door did not shut properly. This wasn’t a problem as I was travelling alone but had I been with a friend there would be no privacy. Worst of all about my stay here is the fact that there was building work going on somewhere in the building, which started from early in the morning til late evening, every day including weekends. So after 2 full days of hiking in the mountains, it was really not possible to have a day relaxing here at the hotel. The work was so loud and could be heard from the rooms, common room and even the restaurant at times. Very disappointed that the hotel failed to mention this before my stay. There is also never anyone at reception if you have a question, so it’s not really ideal if you are travelling solo and want even basic information about the area. No one even told me when I checked in where the common area was, I had to translate it from Slovak from the welcome card in the room. It’s also worth to note that there is no kitchenette in the rooms, it’s just the common room facilities that are provided. Also no...
Read moreWe had a great stay in this hotel. It was clean, had our on ensuite bathroom, had everything we needed and we could us the kitchen to make our own food. Very comfortable for a decent price. |Our only challenge was to actually find the entrance to the hotel and find reception... |Due to the restaurant and hotel sharing the same spot/address we ended up walking to the restaurant where the waiters were not overly helpful to tell us where we could check in. ||Turns out its on the 2nd floor of the hotel, and the main entrance to the hotel is in the back street, not well marked! Also, there is no way to get to reception without already having a key, or phoning the reception desk for someone to come open for you. ||Other than that we loved our stay, chilled so much and there are great places to eat nearby. Would recommend as a good...
Read moreClose to all the shops (super market, pharmacies, restaurants etc). It's also only a 15min walk to the bus and train station. Therefore a great location to be based.||The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Towers provided. Shower was hot and powerful. If I'm honest, super impressed for a 1 star. They get all the essentials right. ||The reason why I'm not giving a full 5 out of 5 is because there's usually no one at reception!! The only time I saw anyone was when a guy was waiting for us to settle the room bill (which we would have done in previous evenings if someone was there to take payment!)||Note: The main entrance is via the restaurant front door. Therefore, you have to use the back door outside of restaurant hours. Not a big deal but something to be aware...
