This hotel shouldn't be 4 stars : staff hate you 'gym' is an old treadmill and the pool is tiny - clearly there to tick boxes inorder to win an extra star or two food is pretty poor (stale bread)
Pros:
The hotel was very quiet, which is probably why we got our deluxe double room so cheap. The room was spacious and clean, with a balcony with no view to write home about.
The sauna was good (possibly because we had it to ourselves thanks to no other guests) three separate saunas and only charged €15 for a couple hours. We were given two towels each.
The location is incredible, right next to the lake and a stones throw away from places to eat.
Cons:
I wouldn't want to stay more than one night here with the poor service.
There was a female receptionist and a female waitress who were friendly and helpful. The rest of the staff we encountered were very unfriendly and apparently did not like having to deal with guests at all. They did not smile, and at several times after interactions (as simple as good morning) seemed to sigh and mutter to themselves as we walked away.
At dinner and breakfast, a male staff member would loudly clear and set tables around us and keep looking over to us even though it was well before end of service. We were the only ones left because there were so few guests to begin with.
At breakfast this morning I couldn't finish my sandwich, so I wrapped it in a napkin to take with me. A male member of staff waited for me by the exit and tried to charge me €4.50 to take it. When I questioned the price (€4.50 for a half eaten sandwich) he told me to sit back down and finish it. I said nvm and gave it to him, and he scolded me "next time make sure you can eat everything you take." I know some hotels don't let you take food out of breakfast, but this didn't feel like someone 'just doing their job' it felt like a miserable person on a power trip. It made me feel so unwelcome I rushed to check out.
A quiet hotel should allow more room for hospitality, not less witnesses for rude behaviour. Despite the incredible location I wouldn't recommend anyone staying here more...
Read moreIf this place called itself three star I might have given it an extra star but to call it four star is a bit of a joke. My wife described the decor as like being in student accommodation. The biggest single problem with our stay during a heatwave was the lack of air conditioning which made for uncomfortable nights sleeping. The rooms furnishing was basic but functional, bathroom was fine. The breakfast buffet is reasonable but not the best we had in Slovenia by any means. The service was generally a bit surly and nit picking in ways you do not expect from a good hotel. Finally we got a smile on the last morning when after grudgingly negotiating an hour extension to check out on one of three rooms to 11am, we brought the kids back beaming from the tandem paragliding experience this allowed them to enjoy.
The gym is so underequipped as to be barely there although there was a table tennis table which was a plus. The pool is nothing to write home about but the annoying thing was the lack of towels. If you want to use a separate towel for the hotel pools, or for the nearby beaches (pebbly) or the watersports on the lake, you are out of luck. They will not give you or even hire you any extra towels other than your room bath towel (I do not expect to be taking my own towels to a "four star" hotel). The oddest thing was the toilet serving the restaurants had a turnstile that seemed to require 50c, although this was out of operation so it turned out they were not actually charging their restaurant guests to use the facilities (but might they another time?) We tried the hotel a la carte restaurant Zlatovcica on the first night which was adequate but no more.
The location is good as it is a short walk to the lake with various places offering watersports and the jetty for the passenger boats across the lake. Parking was sufficient although the barriers to get into the larger car part were not...
Read moreWe are here right now and have a four night stay booked. We thought about leaving after the first night. This hotel is fine if you are expecting a MAXIMUM three star hotel. It is completely false advertising for them to call themselves a four star hotel. It is desperately in need of updating and they should be clear on their website that there is no AC. I have never stayed in a four star hotel anywhere in the world without AC. Nap times for my littles have been nightmarishly hot. There are no coffee/tea facilities in the rooms, you have to bring your own beach towels (which is not made clear in advance), you are nickel and dimed for everything (you have to rent the fridge in your room, you have an added fee for cribs even though kids under a certain age are reportedly free and more), safe in the room doesn’t work, breakfast is basic and there are tacky signs everywhere forbidding people to take food away from breakfast to the point that I felt nervous about taking a banana for my toddler. An awful sewage smell comes up from the drains in the bathroom in the morning and the bathroom is super old. We are really bummed. The only reason why I gave this two stars is because the room cleaning person is good and the parking is free. Grasping at...
