Restavracija Kramar — Restaurant in Bohinj

We only came here for a drink, it's a very nice location but service was a bit careless (because we only ordered drinks) and the prices for said drinks were ludicrous for Bohinj. It's one of the only spots located at the Lakeside but sadly a bit of a tourist trap, wouldn't recommend it unless you got the budget.

Reply after owner's reply on original review: since the owner mentions that the prices are similar to other establishments in the area, I'll come with an example. Forksner, a restaurant in the same town offers craft beers that start at a price of 4 euros (for 0.5 liter) while this restaurant offers craft beers at the prices of 6.5 or 7.5 euros, these are prices that are to be expected at lake Bled, not Bohinj. This is also in no way a promotion for the other restaurant, just an example, all other places we ate or drank at were cheaper than Kramar, you pay for the location, it is what it is.

Reaction after the owner's second reply (part with - infront): as the owner now starts talking about the fact their craft beers are local and the other one might be International. the craft beers previously mentioned that are within the price range of 4 euros are 100% local, not international as the owner likes to entertain. I cannot talk about the food prices at this place but prices for drinks are considerably higher, not only for craft beers. I'm a little done with the fact that the owner is trying to belittle my argument with 'prices are similar to other places' and 'our craft beers are local vs others are international thus ours are more expensive', these are classic...

Nice place to end the afternoon stroll by the lake.

We ordered drinks including local beers which were delicious and came quickly, however we waited over an hour for the food to arrive on our table. Service was nice but very slow. The food was not that good, moreover half of the items on the menu were sold out (visited at 2 pm). We ordered cevapcici which came without side dishes and had almost no taste, the mixed platter of meat was a better option (came with fries) however it was still average in taste.

Majority of the seating is located outside near the shore from where you can observe the beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains, however there is limited indoor seating in case of chilly weather. Anyhow it's good to have some layers even on a warm day as there is constant breeze from the lake.

Parking is located less than a 100 metres away, making the access very convenient. Only cash payments are accepted, luckily there is a Euronet ATM stationed right next to the restaurant.

5 stars for the location and accessibility, 2 stars for the service and food - there is a lot to be improved!

Visited...

Wanted to grab a coffee, but instead of making a proper espresso at the counter, some Gen Z employee told me to use the self-service coffee machine. Still tasting that bad choice — nowhere near a decent coffee. They open at 11 o’clock, even though people are waiting for coffee from early morning.

The place survives only because they have a monopoly — no competition for over 20 years. If you're coming, seriously consider bringing your own food and drinks. On another occasion, the floor was so slippery I almost fell. When I warned them about it, they argued with me instead of fixing the problem. Every time I leave, I think it’s just a bad day for them, but apparently, this is the standard when you don’t have competition.

Added: And then it got worse. After 20 minutes of writing this review, my wife was told to leave when she simply wanted to use the toilet. The owner? Arrogant. His facial expression alone tells you that customer satisfaction is not a priority. Honestly, if they weren’t in this location with zero competition, they would close in 14 days.
