We had dinner here, ordering the trout with trieste sauce for mains, with a salad, and apple strudel for dessert. As others have said, the food is homely and mostly good. The fish was cooked well and the highlight of the meal. The potatoes, boiled and buttered, and the salad, an assortment of vegetables, were nice and simple. The letdown of the meal food-wise was the apple strudel - this underbaked and as a result, stodgy and doughy. We were particularly disappointed as this was supposed to be the dessert special of the day. In terms of service, the waitress was very friendly and welcoming, however, being the sole server on the dinner service meant we were left waiting for long periods of time without attention (as were many other tables) even though she was literally running around doing her best. Read moreFamily owned Pension literally 4 minutes walking to the lake doesn't get much better than that for location. Plus if the weather is clear you get a very nice view of the mountains from the balcony so grab a few beers or wine and enjoy yourself.
The service is probably some of the best one will get here. You will be treated like a long time friend and get great recommendations on where to go for hiking, also where to get Bohinj cheese. Yes get this from the manufacturing plant like 8 minutes away driving from here you won't regret it. Again I will repeat the service is extremely good here !!!!
You will need to mention when you arrive about breakfast for the following day. If given the option just get it because you will be given an ample amount of food and do get the lard because it's delicious, also perfect for the hikes...
Read moreWe came for dinner and they were busy with seemingly just one server but seated us right away and served us large tasty portions perfect after a day of hiking. We sat outside on the second floor, and it had a homey casual atmosphere. The mixed salad was meal sized (we should have shared instead of each getting one as a starter) with a good variety of fresh veggies, beans, and hard boiled egg and was served with Slovenia’s famous pumpkin oil - yum! I also had the čevapčiči - a ground meat kebab - that came with a side of ajvar - a delicious red pepper condiment - and a rice with stewed veggies on top and fries. This plate was really good too but too large for me to finish after I couldn’t give up the tasty salad. Good spot a bit back from the lake that didn’t have lines like many others at...
