Everything was great except the hotel instructions on parking, which were a bit of a nightmare. We tried to explain what needed to be corrected for future guests but the hotel insisted their instructions were accurate. The hotel will tell you to park at the Fornace Garage if you have a lot of luggage. DO NOT follow your GPS to the Fornace Garage. Your GPS will take you to a Residents Only entrance and you will have residents honking at you as you try to back up since you won’t be able to get in. If you get to the bottom of the hill, you’ve gone too far. The garage you want says “Garazna hisa” in huge letters (this is actually the Fornace garage but a tourist would never know that). Parking method 1: follow the above instructions then take your luggage with you on the shuttle. To find the shuttle, take the garage elevator to the bottom floor and walk with your luggage quite aways to the bus stop by the sea. Parking method 2: The best thing to do involves entering the old town for the 15 minute free entrance to drop off your luggage. Here are the instructions: park at Garazna hisa garage, leave your luggage in your car then take the shuttle to the hotel and ask the hotel to show you where to park with your emergency lights on (there’s really only one spot and you won’t be able to find it unless you’ve been shown), then take the shuttle back to your car, pay for parking and exit the lot and go to the hotel, put on your emergency flashing lights, dump off your luggage, then return to the garage. Parking method 3: park at Garazna hisa garage and make multiple trips on the shuttle if you have much luggage. Be aware that every time you mention parking the hotel staff revels in telling you that you didn’t read the emails. They are extremely proud of their emails about parking and it’s irrelevant to them that the emails are misleading. The hotel is really funky (in a great way) and very modern. We had room 413 which didn’t have much of a view but that was fine as it also didn’t have the noise that the Seaview and Square view rooms get. It was a very quiet room. The A/C worked great and this is important in Piran. The bathroom is big by European standards and recently remodeled and very modern. The shower is SUPER slippery and there is no shower mat, so be super careful. We moved the shower soap to the floor in the front of the shower. The hotel has it in the back of the shower so it squirts all over the floor making it even more slippery. The room was large and had plenty of storage and places to put things. The bed was king size and medium firm with a bit of a soft top. It was very comfortable. The front desk is there 24/7 which is nice. There was hand sanitizer on every floor at the elevator, which was appreciated. The breakfast buffet was great. It was varied and plentiful. The woman who takes your room number at breakfast is very cheerful and welcoming and always has a big smile. As far as beach towels, you have to RENT them for 7 euros each. I’m sure it cost them less to buy them. This isn’t a deposit! This is a rental fee! God only knows what they would charge you if you didn’t...
Read moreWe were doing a cycling tour from Piran and needed a hotel which had a place to store 2 bicycles so we contacted various accommodations and the Art Hotel advised that they had a secure bike storage so we booked our 2 night stay with them.||The reception staff are very friendly and made the stay was nice but sadly our room was the major let-down. We booked the Presidential Suite at EUR 290pn and it was far from being Presidential standard in anyone’s book. The furniture in the room was basic and there was a smell of mould which we saw was coming from the damp patches bubbling through on the wall in a few places.||The bathroom was very odd as it only had net curtains covering the windows which ran the entire length of the wall and faced outwards so at night in particular you would be on display to anyone elevated to the same level to look in. We hung the 2 bathrobes provided over the window in front of the shower to provide as much privacy as possible. The shower head had a broken nozzle and the power sockets in the bathroom only worked if the lights were turned on!||The ‘amenities’ consisted of an empty mini fridge, two cups, two glasses, some coffee pods and a coffee machine which broke on the second day. There were no tea bags, sugar, milk or spoons. The bathroom amenities consisted of bottle of unbranded ‘shampoo/bodywash’ and a box of tissues. That was it. This more or less sums up the room standard. In a branded hotel the shower head would have been replaced and the mould remedied as well as the windows given a covering but I suspect this won’t happen here.||On the positive side, the bed was comfortable and offered a good night’s sleep and the breakfast was a highlight offering a very good choice of items. ||There is a nice photography point over the square if you go to the far-right hand side of the outside terrace and elevate your camera. ||It is important to point out that this room is right on top of the outside rooftop bar which we understand has live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Patrons at the bar would be able to look directly upwards into the room. Fortunately, we were staying during the week so the bar was closed.||All in all, we were very disappointed in the standard of the room given...
Read moreDear Hotel Team,
We love your hotel – this was already our 5th year staying with you! We noticed some nice improvements, especially the breakfast, which seemed to have a wider selection this time. That was a pleasant surprise! Unfortunately, the coffee is still not our favorite. In previous years we always ordered a different coffee, but this time that option was no longer available. My partner was able to get a decaf, but I wasn’t offered a cappuccino, which was a bit disappointing. Also, the air conditioning unit was clicking during the night – it seemed louder than we remember from previous years. Hopefully, next year the breakfast coffee will taste better, or it will be possible to request a freshly brewed one again. Otherwise, everything was wonderful, as always. Oh, one more thing: we didn’t quite understand why we had to check in again at the reception even though we had already completed the online check-in. It didn’t seem to make much sense. Thank you again for everything – we’re already looking forward to our next stay!
Warm...
