WINK Aparthotel Foreshore — Hotel in City Centre

I stayed at WINK Aparthotel for 96 days so can give a genuine all around review.I stayed in the superior room, booked for 2 guests.

Good : Bathroom is big and well maintained. Bed is big, cozy and comfortable. No loadshedding. Internet is decent

Bad : Too many homeless people just outside the hotel. They'll always bother you asking for money and stuff.

Kitchen only has one small pan, no pots etc so you won't actually be able to cook.

Worst : There's this female security guard who comes at night sometimes, she chats at very loud volume just outside the hotel gate. Has disturbed my sleep at around 3am on multiple occasions. On making her aware of this, rather than mending her ways for comfort of the guests she started being vindictive, denied me and my guest entry at HOTEL at 10pm (curfew time was 12am). Id taken written communication from hotel before booking about timings and was told that entry will be allowed as long as it doesn't breaches curfew time. Complained to the manager, was allowed entry. Same thing happened again after 2 week, denied entry along with my guest at 10pm by this lady security guard. Contacted manager, entry given. ( Was very embarrassing infront of my guest to be denied entry to the hotel room which you've paid in full)

Met hotel manager next day, gave written complaint about this, she said the hotel rules pdf stated the 10pm entry restriction. Showed her the pdf, sat with her to show the 10 pm timing rule, it wasn't there. Then showed her my email communication prior to hotel booking which stated that entry restriction will coincide with curfew timing. Manager also informed me that they didn't like that I was not polite to the security guard after she made me stand outside my room for 20 mins, denying me entry to the room I paid in full just for her vendetta.

My plan was to stay for another month but I left the hotel room the next day vowing never to come back to WINK...

Very unpleasant experience staying at this hotel.

Bedroom, bathroom and toilet in one room. Toilet has no enclosure for smells/sounds. Windows facing a parking lot were very dirty. Shower door doesnt close properly. Needed to use towels to prevent water flowing into bedroom. 4. Plumbing repairs underneath bathroom basin visible. Very bad neighborhood with beggars harrassing you the moment step outside to have a smoke (no-smoking hotel without a safe/secure designated smoking area) Requested a room change but was ignored by unfriendly staff. Didn't receive an invoice for payment and had to keep sending requests for it Sent a formal complaint to the ops manager but haven't received...

The staff are super friendly and obliging. Breakfast was good. However the hotel itself isn't maintained properly. Although the bedding is clean, the finishings especially after repairs show. This is shoddy workmanship. If you get pros in to do maintenance although it may cost a bit more at the time, it will cost less in the long run and will make the hotel feel more upmarket. The water doesn't get that hot as well. Had to have a Luke warm shower and had trouble with the access card. Attention to detail is required ! Just some...
