The original Mariam's Kitchen
Parking is a bit tricky because there aren't toò many parking bays and it's a busy little road.
Ordered 2 toasted masala steak with chips, onion and salad sandwiches eat in, and a toasted chicken and mayo with chips to go.
Waited a bit and was called to collect the chic first , they then realized the bigger part of the order wasn't with it and told us to wait . No problem good food takes time.
The toasted steak did not disappoint!!! Yummy, delicious and it hit the proverbial spot!!
The chicken on the other hand was bad. The photograph looks yummier than the actual sandwich. Hardly mayo, counted about 5 or 6 chips on it , the chicken was a clump of something in-between two slices of limp toast. It did not travel well either and looked even more unappetizing when I handed it over to my son.
So , as with many food places these days , eating it there is always better than TAKE...
Read moreMy husband ordered a toasted chicken & cheese for me just 5 mins before closing time. The table outside was dirty so I opted to eat in the car. When I opened it up the toast inside was burnt black so I immediately took it back. Even though they were closed they opened up for me. He thank goodness mentioned that it had pepper on & that it was spicy which my husband wasn't told when he placed the order. I am unable to eat spicy or any form of pepper or hot food as it upsets my extremely sensitive IBS. When I told him this he immediately stopped the order & offered me a refund. He did mention that I must be careful in future if I ever buy food from a Muslim takeaway food shop because everything they make is hot & spicy which I greatly appreciated because nobody had ever told me...
Read moreThe lunch is great: I would recommend the steak curry and roti, it was really great and had it on multiple occasions.
The breakfast is a sad affair. I tried going on two separate occasions to see if it would be better but I was so disappointed.
I was totally shocked when I ordered a toasted cheese sandwich and chips: the cheese they used was 1 slice of processed cheese that wasn't melted, lots of lettuce and about 6 chips stuffed in the sandwich . Really terrible and unappetizing.
I tried the breakfast platter with 2 eggs, Vienna, chips, salads and 2 toasted bread. Wasn't much better. The bread was burnt, the eggs was to oily (looked like they deep fried it in oil), salads and chips were ok. I missed the free coffee that comes with if you there before 9am a bonus for coffee lovers...
