I celebrated my 40th birthday at Infinity restaurant. WOW. It was the perfect evening! The decor is absolutely breathtaking, the view was magnificent, and those weren't even the best part. The food was absolutely exquisite. My wife and I both had the lamb shank, and it was so tender that the meat was falling off the bone - I could pull it apart by just putting my fork into it. One friend had the pork belly, and it was also the softest cut he had ever had. And my other friend had the calamari, and she said it was like an explosion of flavour in every bite. That statement was true for every dish... With little dollops of compotes and gels, to the fascinating sauces (cherry pomegranate on the lamb, for example), every single bite was a new decadent flavor adventure. Which was even more evident in the dark chocolate mousse desert! Thank you to Serjo for looking after us last night - you went out of your way to make sure we had everything we needed, and even things we didn't (like explaining how you're actually supposed to taste whiskey 😊). And Thank you Shanika, and the rest of the Infinity team for making my evening even more special by surprising me with my little Happy Birthday plate! I could not have asked for a more perfect evening

The restaurant has a good view of both Table Mountain and Roben Island in Capetown City. The meals are good for the caliber of the hotel and the restaurant. I checked in on 08 November 2023 and had not booked for dinner, which the organizer of my travel did at around 5 pm on the day. At dinner time, I had two visitors who paid for meals from their own card separate from the room account of the hotel. On check out, I was told I'm owing R100, which the manager of the hotel claimed he paid it for me. When I checked what was the cause of that because I even under spent my dinner allocation, he said to me it's from a tip that I did. To start with, I never signed for any tip. Fine, I requested the slip with information that I tipped with R100 and bit wasn't brought to me. The manager was just buying time as he knew I had to rush for a flight. I've been visiting Capetown every year for the past 14 years but have never experienced such a bad service. I have many stories in the two nights I was staying at Hotel Sky, especially at their restaurant, but let me stop here. However, if you want to hear more. You can contact me personally.

The view and location of the restaurant is so stunning that they could have truly created something magnificent! Unfortunately the food is quite average even though the plating comes across to the standard of fine dining the flavours and taste disappoint the palette. The restaurant week special has a set menu and to our disappointment they were out of stock on items that I really wanted to try and had to substitute for other ingredients. Other items requested like tea were also out of stock. For a restaurant that pitches itself as a high caliber entrant, one of the most important things is to have stock of all items your menu boasts - especially during restaurant week when all eyes are on you. The food itself definitely needs to be taken up a few notches tl meet the expectation you create. It'll be a pity to be average when you have so much to offer given the optimal location you own in such a beautiful city!

One Star - Deplorable Service Ruins Incredible View

I had high expectations for the Hotel Sky Infinity Restaurant, drawn in by the promise of breathtaking views and a sophisticated dining experience. Sadly, my visit was a complete and utter disaster, with some of the worst service I've ever encountered.

The initial welcome was pleasant and the view from my seat – overlooking Table Mountain and the stadium – was indeed spectacular. However, this was the only positive aspect of my experience. After ordering a cocktail and a starter of calamari (which was, at best, average), the service completely collapsed.

I was left unattended for a staggering 45 minutes. My drink was long gone and I had planned on ordering more wine. When I finally managed to get someone's attention to inquire about my main course, I was met with a dismissive "we had no idea" – no apology, no explanation. This was completely unacceptable after such a lengthy wait.

The situation worsened. My main course, which I had ordered earlier, arrived eventually, but without the glass of wine I had requested. It took another 20 minutes to flag down a waiter to address the overcooked steak. By this point, I had been waiting nearly an hour to eat my main meal. Tables around me, who had arrived later, were served and had left.

The restaurant managers' handling of the situation was equally appalling. While one manager offered a half-hearted apology, another attempted to bully me into staying, despite my repeated requests to leave. I felt incredibly uncomfortable and pressured.

After an hour and 20 minutes, having only consumed a cocktail and a mediocre starter, I asked to pay for what I had and leave.

To add insult to injury, the waiter snarled at me when I didn't leave a tip – a tip he certainly did not deserve.

The view, while stunning, is accessible from the hotel's 22nd-floor smoking deck. There's absolutely no reason to subject yourself to the abysmal service at the Infinity Restaurant.

I strongly advise anyone staying at Hotel Sky to avoid this restaurant. The inattentive, dismissive and frankly rude service made for a truly miserable experience. I will not be returning and I cannot recommend this...

Going here almost ruined our evening.

We decided to grab dinner with our friend staying at hotel Sky. Upon entering the restaurant, a harsh and unfriendly hostess rudely reminded us to put our masks back on. We had removed them to take a group picture and had innocently forgotten to wear them again.

The same hostess directed us to the semi-empty restaurant, and after selecting an unreserved 5-seater table, she harshly reprimanded that we (3 of us) sit at another table. I would have understood this instruction if the restaurant had been full or "reserved" signs visible on many tables. However, this was not the case and the harsh and dismissive manner the hostess spoke to us was disappointing. After what felt like a mini-battle, we sat on the 5-seater and offered to happily move if the restaurant got full and a group of 5 people walked in.

Our waitress arrived and, like the hostess, had a dismissive attitude. What we wanted was out of stock. We did not receive an apology for the inconvenience, nor were we informed by the hostess or waitress when we sat down.

We left after our drinks arrived and went somewhere else. The restaurant was still semi-empty.

The micromanagement of seating and dismissive attitude of hostess and waiters is just awful. I could not rate the drinks because I was so annoyed by the time they arrived.

On our way out, we greeted the hostess, who ignored our polite thank you's and bye's- obviously still upset that we did not sit where she wanted us to sit.

I am not going back...

I booked a table for 6 for my birthday on Friday, 29 September 2023. On the website the restaurant boasts with amazing 360 degree views which you can only see when you are standing up…fair enough…There was a table for 6 (nice and spacious) in one little corner though from where you can actually get a pretty great view of the city. I requested to be seated at that table (since there was no reserved sign)…I even asked if it requires an extra fee to be seated there. Apparently the manager refused and at first it was said that they reserve the table to add more seats IN CASE a bigger group of 8 WOULD come😳 The restaurant was half empty…ANY other tables could’ve been put together for a larger group for that matter. I went over to the table before my guests arrived just to enjoy the view for a bit…and a waitress rushed over to put a ‘RESERVED’ sign on the table. My WORD!! Did they really think I was gonna ‘gate crash’?!! Lo and behold…THAT TABLE WAS EMPTY THE ENTIRE EVENING… while we were cramped at the table we were seated. Mr/Ms manager: That was so damn selfish and pathetic…As a manager, you should know that such lack of consideration and integrity could be a bummer to the most amazing food and atmosphere. Some more training in this regard will do no harm, you know. I’ll just spare any of my family or friends such inconvenience and...
