Hide Place Lodge and Spa — Hotel in Free State

I stayed for 1 night and will never stay there again.||||The reception area is dirty, and this is where you start your overnight stay.||Once in the room, the sliding door could not close as it was jamming up on the bottom rollers, the lock was loose and could not lock. Try closing the curtains and the rod came away from the wall as the bracket was loose and the front of the curtain rail fell off. After putting the curtains back, wanted to wash my hands, only to find there was no soap. Had to go and ask for soap from reception.||||Later wanted to make some coffee and only found 2 tea bags, no milk, no coffee and no sugar. Also no teaspoons.||||The chair at the small table was falling to pieces and the legs are broken.||||The lights in the ceilings had no fittings covering the globes.||||Breakfast time the next morning - staff were not dressed to accept visitors for breakfast, looked like they had just arrived at work and very unprofessional.||At the end of a long day, you want a decent place to stay, but I would strongly advise any person to read the reviews and look before you plan to stay there.||||I will never go back and neither will any of our staff stay there. Service: Friendly. Helpful. Sufficient. Rooms: Infrastructure not well maintained. Clean. Amenities provided. Dstv. Some matresses needs replacement. Bathroom: broken mirrors, showerheads. No windows or extraction fans. Tiles are cracked. This is not a home away from home, but rather an inconvenient compromise.

1 Day Later: I was surprised to learn that this establishment has seen my review in less than 24 hours of posting.

I was offered to be moved to another room which I declined as I do not want to go through the effort of moving.

I am however VERY thankful for the lovely KING SIZE mattress and linen that my original twin room was furnished with.

The staff has made every effort to make my stay comfortable. The chef has conjured up very delicious dishes.

Although upgrading of facilities in these economic times will take time and precision micro management, it is easy to forgive due to the caring service that has been provided. Thank you...

Well it's the best place if you are on a road trip and want to take a quick nap before your next destination

Best place to travel with friend Not recommended if you are a couple and you want a gateway

The food was alright not the best but alright It was a "buffet" there is a limit of 2 items per person and limited menu items

The service was good they assisted in bookings and rooms management

There security part I'm not sure cause I didn't see any visible security guards on site The Gate for the cars can only be opened by the reception and you have to hoot

The rooms were cleaned and need, the bath tub was also clean I really appreciated that

The location is close to a mall that was cool cause it's like a 5 minutes drive And also there is a stadium nearby I'm just not sure about...
