Fantastic place for Breakfast or lunch ||Do you live in Pretoria and long for the Cape ? No longer ! We have discovered Klein Kaap and have had lunches and breakfast there on a few occasions in the last 6 months . |Lunch under the trees is like sitting under the oak trees in the Cape with the Cape Dutch architecture. Its a relaxed farmyard atmosphere with chickens walking around and swans. Service is a bit slow - but walking around, we realised the kitchen is at the far side of the property, but all meals were brought to the table at the same time, and all were hot . Eating inside gives you a true Cape experience with authentic Cape furniture and wooden beamed ceiling||The Caprese style tartlet as a starter was absolutely fantastic !!! We had the battered hake for mains which was a large portion with home made tartar sauce . The beef hamburger was rated as 8/10 by my brother in law ( who makes his own and is a bit of a burger aficionado )|Both the fish and burger were served with potato wedges which is basically a potato cut into 4 pieces. These are a bit too ''rustic'' and could do with a bit more love and attention, ie cut smaller . On a previous occasion we had the Cape Malay Curry which was very good and breakfasts are good too!|The dark chocolate brownie cheese cake was , in my opinion not a success as the brownie base had the consistency of glue and could be a lot lighter . ||Pricing is reasonable for such a lovely location bursting with ambiance. Call and check for availability as it may be booked out for a function . The venue offers boutique hotel accommodation , lovely gardens and a few halls for weddings or corporate functions.||We will be back and we are telling our friends about this Cape jewel protected by trees in the centre...
Read moreOne week prior to this review we came to the restaurant and sat next to the pond by the swans , as this was our first visit to the venue we asked the waiter where we could smoke and he said right here and brought us an ashtray , a week later i brought my mother to see this delightful venue , sat at the same table and asked the waiter for an ashtray he obliged , then patrons 10 m away complained and we where told we cannot smoke at this table , when I asked the waiter why as a week ago I had a completely different experience , he said only if its quiet , he said that we should move pointing to another section of the grounds , my mother took a stroll to that section to go smoke , but again she was told she couldn't she had to go back to the parking area. In the day and age where all possible objections are considered nothing will ever be accomplished , no signs mentioning no smoking and no designated areas for the polulace that still smoke what absolutely infuriated me was when we killed our cigarettes the person who had an issue 10m away engaged in conversation saying thank you , probably expecting a courteous response as would be expected by liberal tree huggers and retards with selfish self centered aspirations totally alloof that mutual respect cannot be demanded in all situations. In order to avoid any such future conflict experiences i will never promote or support this venue again due to the situation they put me in , verbal threats where made and possible violence was threatened.
Food was great as before , venue is wonderful it was...
Read moreThe staff at the restaurant are friendly and attentive. The food is wonderful. The venue is beautiful and would work for any function. However, if you are planning a small wedding of 50 people or less then this may not be the best place for that. I visited the venue on the 14th of March 2019, as I have been scouting around for a suitable wedding venue, this place was picture perfect. I waited for their event coordinator to meet me at reception, she showed me around hastily. She asked how many guests, I responded that there would be approximately 20guests. Her attitude changed and she immediately explained that they do not cater for small weddings on Fridays and Saturdays. I dismissed the rather disrespectful attitude in her tone, demeanor and body language at first but it did not change during my interactions with her. I still left my details and business card, asked her to please send me a quotation and some suggestions. Alas, it is now 7 weeks later and no communication has been received from Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel. It is a tremendous pity that businesses do not seem to want to cater for smaller functions. Besides the rather distasteful and disrespectful interaction with their event coordinator. The rest of the staff are warm, welcoming, friendly and attentive. The venue is beautiful and unique. If you are planning to have a wedding or function, make sure it is large enough so that you receive...
