We visited this establishment on the 20th of April for Restaurant week. The parking and area leading up to the restaurant were dark and dingy. We were offered a table that was in a compact corner yet we were the only patrons that night.
The menu that was offered is the restaurant's standard menu. My wife did not have the restaurant week special but chose to have a burger. The burger bun felt like it was made a week ago and warmed in the oven. the burger patty was dry and could be sold as biltong. This establishment only offers catch-up as a sauce. The fries were so bad that raw potatoes would have been better.
I had braised beef short rib served on a bed of sweet wild garlic overcook risotto and twigs of thyme over roasted plum or was that puree.
My son had something that looked like a grilled octopus but tasted like a rubber band.
For mains, I had the worst tasting sticky pork belly, with some boiled broccoli that was thrown over the plate. The pork crackling was non-existing and I really don't blame the crackling for not wanting to be part of the horrific meal. The chef was kind enough to come to the table and help rectify this meal but sadly his valiant attempt ended up being far worst. the pork smelt like a pig and tasted like a chemical warfare thingy made to eliminate someone. Well, it kinda worked cos that evening I ended up with food poisoning and severe tummy pains.
My son ordered a medium rare fillet steak that was served well done but the poor lad was so hungry he ate up that meal and then complained of his jaw muscles in pain from that chewing.
So this restaurant show never is put on Restaurant Week unless you are trying to find the worst meal...

We ordered a still water for the table, which took 20 minutes to arrive. We placed our drink order and had 3 people come to double-check our order. I ordered the chickpea curry for the main dish, and my guest ordered the hake with sweet potato fries and two additional sides, namely cream spinach and butternut. I enjoyed the curry, and the portion sizes are large. My guest mentioned that her hake was undercooked but did enjoy the sides. No waitstaff came to check our drinks or assist us any further, we had to flag someone to get assistance. For dessert, I ordered the vegan brownie and my guest the carrot cake. 15 minutes passed, and our waitress asked me to order something else because the brownies were finished. I asked her what else is vegan, and she responded with the sweet potato chocolate cake, which is gluten and sugar-free. During dessert, my guest accidentally knocked over her wine glass, causing it to break at the stem, and the person who came to assist us didn't offer a replacement glass to drink the rest of her wine, she drank what was left of it from one of the water glasses that were still on the table. Leaving the restaurant poses a bigger challenge because it is dark, and there is no discernible walkway. The trees with the fairy lights, the swans and the ducks were the best part...

The atmosphere is very calming, relaxing, and enjoyable. Friendly and helpful staff. Food is delightful and fresh, and they have a wide variety of food to choose from. They have something for everybody. A little bit of everything. Whether you are sitting inside on a cold day by the fireplace or outside under the trees while enjoying the swans🦢 swimming in the pond or the dogs playing on the lawn. It has it all. The restaurant is dog friendly. They even have a doggy 🐾menu for your paw babies 🐕 The garden needs a little work, but the rustig, wild feel works with the historical Dutch style buildings. Visit the vintage cars and the hotel reception to buy some miscellaneous items and even honey that comes from KleinKaaps on-site hives. A little interesting fact about Kleinkaap: an Afrikaans mockumentary series was shot at the KleinKaap hotel and restaurants called Hotel. Series spanned from 2016 - 2022. It is a great laugh. A very friendly staff member was so kind as to take me and show me some behind the scenes shots that are not available to the public. I was so pleased and taken back by her kindness. Thank you. Keep up the...
