Bellinis — Restaurant in Gauteng

We did some extensive research to locate a nice restaurant in Illovo for a date night. Bellinis came highly rated, but we were disappointed. The service is excellent, was served promptly, with a smile and was taken good care of. However, the food was incredibly disappointing for the price paid. We ordered a baked potato, the Dijon crumbed schnitzel and the bacon sticks as starters. The price for the proportion is not worth the size and flavour of the food unfortunately. The website prices are also outdated. It does tend to get loud quickly as well, however the people that we were surrounded by seemed like regulars -- the area is safe as usual and the once again, excellent...

Took a friend out for his birthday lunch ordered a fillet prego and chips ,the prego was dry with no sauce at all …piece of steak ,a roll ,chips for R170 ..I’m can’t help but feel there’s something underwhelming here …had to grab the waiter to get a round of drinks as he disappeared most of our sitting ..my friend ordered his meal and got a baked potato topped with an avo …again underwhelming…I’ve eating here before and enjoyed it ..,I guess it’s important what you order as not everything on their restricted menu is worthwhile …the server said my friend should of ordered the pepper steak …pity he’s vegetarian…anyway won’t be back in a hurry ..,better prego’s in...

I had the chicken schnitzel. Two tiny pieces for R190. My wife’s main course at R240 was equally disappointing. The salad was good but too pricey compared with other restaurants we frequent. The wine selection was good and reasonably priced. However, at over R400 per person we felt that we did not receive good value. Also, the restaurant was not busy yet the manager / owner? did not stop by to ask after our meals. Joburg offers too much choice and better value so we will not be back,...
