I’m not sure where to begin to describe this unforgettable experience.
Having stayed in many fancy places and dined in numerous high-end restaurants, this place evoked feelings I hadn’t experienced in a long time. The staff were so cheerful, energetic, friendly, and supportive that it felt like I was visiting family. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the warm atmosphere and positive vibes. I can’t recall ever wanting to return to a hotel as much as I did here. They treated me with such kindness that I found myself eager to learn about their culture, donning South African clothes, picking up a bit of the local language, and even participating in local handshakes.
They helped me organize tours and find cultural experiences, always being patient and helpful despite my many questions. In the short time I was there, I felt like I was becoming part of this wonderful community within the hotel. They even gave me a Zulu name, “Simphiwe,” meaning “we have him as a gift.” Such love and friendship are incredibly precious, especially for a lone traveler like me. I had to hold back tears, as they would have surely fallen.
I must thank Xoliswa Perdao, Lesego, Sello, Kwadwo, Annie, Mike, Tammy, Blessing and Andiswa for making this trip so delightful. I already miss these wonderful people.
As for the technical details, the hotel is impeccably safe and clean, with everything well-organized. The location is convenient, close to most attractions. The rooms are fantastic, featuring a mini-kitchen, balcony, and generous size. Most importantly, the toilets have a unique sink beside them, accommodating the cleansing rituals of various cultures, including Islamic, Italian, and Japanese. As a Muslim, this was a significant concern for me, and finding this on the other side of the world was a priceless surprise. The restaurant is exceptional, offering a wide range of cuisines, both local and international, at very reasonable prices. I hardly ate out because I was so enamored with the food and service at the hotel.
This place truly shows that exceptional staff can turn any place into a paradise!
In short, I highly recommend this place, which will leave a lasting impression on you. I’m leaving a piece of my heart here with the hope to reunite in the future!

Read moreThere were two things about our stay which I found unpleasant.||||1. For some reason there was a lot of noise from the hotel that reached into our room. Late into the night we heard loud voices talking on our floor and what seemed to be the floor above us. I don't think the people were particularly boisterous. It's just that the room was not very well shielded from outside noise. We were also woken at 4am by the rattling of pipes in the walls somewhere when someone turned on their shower.||||2. The overall quality of the breakfast buffet was definitely not what I would expect from a hotel in this price range. The cheese was left standing uncovered and were tough dry strips resembling leather. The croissants were at least a day old, which is particularly disappointing if you consider that you are probably within walking distance of places that bake croissants daily.||||While I fully understand that some people have dietary requirements that prohibit them from eating pork, I do not. I would not force pork on them, and I would hope people would not force a dietary restriction like that on me. There was no indication when we made our reservation that the hotel subscribes to halal restrictions and the first we discovered this was when we sat down at the breakfast table. It was very disappointing to discover that there would be no bacon and eggs and no ham and cheese omelette. If it really is impossible for the hotel to accommodate both those who want pork, and those who do not, then I would have appreciated if this was made clear to us at the time of making a reservation as we would then have had the option to make a reservation elsewhere (which I...
Read moreBeautiful hotel. Better than average breakfasts. Staff in dire need of training!
"Fawlty Towers" experiences over a 2 night stay: Day 1: I requested a blanket as i was cold. I was told the hotel does not have any blankets. I threw my toys: blanket miraculously materialised. Day 2: Got back to a "cleaned" room at 3pm. ALL my dirty dishes were still dirty...in the dishwasher where i had packed them. I was told the dishwasher does not work! There was no note in the room to say so. I had just left the dishwasher packed as there was no dishwasher tablet/powder provided...i assumed housekeeping would provide the detergent & run the dishwasher! Not so! Day 3: 1)An ad in the eIevator promoted a "Winter Special" breakfast at R99. I had a guest for breakfast & was charged R150! I pointed out that this amounts to false advertising - I was told prices had changed 1 July. The ad in the lift was swiftly removed!! (BTW my family & i had breakfast at the hotel twice in June at the R99 winter special rate). 2)I had placed a "Do not disturb sign" on my door in the morning. Reception called me on my mobile to ask me to open my door to chat to the head of housekeeping. I did. I put the "Do not disturb" sign up again. The reception called on my mobile to ask me to open my door as a waiter wanted me to sign a bill. So irritating...so annoying...so inconsiderate...SO INTRUSIVE!
Staff training is imperative to avoid the hotel...
