I had a wonderful stay at this Hotel. I had no expectations since it was my first time in Johannesburg, and initially was coming for a short stay, then extended for additional nights.. The Check in was smooth and swift and took just a few minutes. The lobby is very welcoming, quiet with lots of open spaces to places to seat and relax. Visited their lobby restaurant in two ocassins for lunch and dinner; the staff that took care of my table (in every visit) was knowledgable and absolutely welcoming. Every item they recommended and served was spot on. The rooms are perfect for a business trip stay. Is very clean, good size TV with airplay options and a good size bath room. Housekeeping was coming around 1000-1100 am every day and the room was left nice and tidy. I was staying in the fourth floor and the only items that caught my attention is that when the neighboring doors close and maybe slam you can feel it in your room but normally that happened during the late morning hours. The hotel is well located and 5-10 minute drive to any mall or nice shopping area. There is a free shuttle to one of this mall that departs every hour. I had access to the Executive lounge and I must say that beside the fact that is not a big space, the place is quiet, comfortable, business friendly and every single table a multiple plug charginig stations which is not common. The happy hour they have after 5pm is hosted by a great set of staff members which took their time to explain to me the benefits of staying at the hotel, been part of their membership program, the places to visit while in Johannesburg (tourism and restaurants). We got hosted by Mokgadi (staff member) in two occasions and once by Kamo (staff member)and their attention to detail, welcoming vibe, and guest oriented drive enhanced the stay experience. It is a must to highlight that the staff in this place is A1. Thanks Radisson Red for this great stay and for sure ill visit you again...
Read moreIf you have food allergies, DON'T go to this hotel!
I have allergy to gluten and I need gluten free diet. I brought my food but realized that I might not have enough on the day I need to leave the hotel. So I checked their options. On the last day of my stay, I called for room service. I asked, and repeated again and again, about the food choices that I can take. I got confused with their menu and had to clarify again and again.
On the breakfast menu, some choices were marked G meaning it bas gluten. The rest were not marked. The staff said the rest I can have them as they were not marked with the letter G. I even asked her to double check with the chef, which she did. She informed me that out of all the choices I picked, only the rice was not gluten free.
My food came and it was even the lady I talked to who delivered it. She was proud and confident about my food being "gluten free".
In the evening I called and asked about their gluten free choices again. For the second time, I repeated and emphasized my situation. I even asked to double check with their chef. It was a different staff. She passed the phone to their chef.
I was shocked when the chef informed me that the orders I took were not gluten free. And that most of their food have gluten. I just told him that their "chef" and their staff confirmed that what I had a while ago was gluten free. Now, I don't see the point of highlighting the allergens and mentioning the "ask for allergen info" if they have zero clues about allergens! He sounded confused yet unbothered and just told me that he will just inform his manager about this.
If you have specific allergies, I DON'T recommend this hotel. They're clueless and they don't really care about your dietary needs.
Also, about three times the electricity kept on going off. Without any notice or anything, the lights will just turn off. It was quite a bother as I was already in the bathroom...
Read moreI was in room a lady knocked and opened right away my room door with master key But she couldn't open completely as i had door guard on from inside. I asked why she is here and why did she opened my door, she said i am checking if someone inside or not. Just imagine if i were not there and something went missing from my personal belongings whom to say responsible. They have system they can check which room is occupied and which is not, why you guys are coming to room and open a room with a master key and checking whether it's occupied or not. Then later on another guy came and knock my door I was resting that time and I opened the door he gave me some stuff this is complementary from hotel and seriously it was just few hours before my checking out from the hotel if something is complementary it should be right away after checking in. Even though he was looking at my name in the list which he was having in his hand but my name was not there. So he write my name in front of the room number. And he went back. After 10 minutes or 15 minutes another lady came and knock my door I opened again my door and asked what happened now she said I'm just here to check on you if you are alright if you need anything so you can tell us I said I am resting please let me rest because I have to go and I am checking out after few hours why are you guys coming again and again and knocking my door this is not acceptable. On top of that I heard a lot of noise out of my room by housing staff they were cleaning the rooms they were doing their stuff but making too much noise which is disturbing the guests and the hotels because the soundproofing were also not up to the standard that's why guest can hear noise inside the room as well. Hotel owners should take action and train staff not to do this kind of things again even I heard a lot of other guests were also...
