58 On Hume — Hotel in Gauteng

I felt so at ease as a solo traveler at this small hotel that's located conveniently walking distance from The Zone at Rosebank. This is especially convenient since the Johannesburg on and off tourist bus leaves from there. I stayed for 3 nights before a safari in Zimbabwe and Botswana. The hotel conveniently arranged pick up at the airport as well as transfer back for my international flight. At the hotel you are welcomed not only by the very warm Michelle but also by her 2 very friendly dogs, who were very available for pets throughout my stay. They even kept me company at meals (although no begging! Very polite dogs). As a solo traveler it was so nice to be in a small hotel that felt very safe and personal. The rooms were very comfortable (although not all are air conditioned--this was not an issue during my stay and there was a fan in the room but good to know in advance). They offered a delicious breakfast with full English breakfast if desired. They also serve dinner which I took advantage of since I didn't really want to go out on my own. The food was very good as well. If you are going to be in Johannesburg for more than a night, I think it's definitely worth using a boutique hotel like this rather than staying at the...

Honestly, Trip Advisor needs a 10 star rating just for 58 on Hume. I can't speak highly enough of this hotel. It's almost impossible to find places that feel like a luxe treat but also make you feel as if you are right at home but Michelle & her team achieve that - from all the lovely little touches right there in the room (nice teas, French press coffee, snacks, incredibly comfy bed with nice fluffy pillows & good linen.....) to the morning chats over brekkie & pats with the two pups. The grounds & property overall are beautiful & also very handily located near the restaurant precinct at Rosebank.||We absolutely loved staying & will definitely be looking to book again if we return to Johannesburg in the future.
