The Bannister Hotel — Hotel in Gauteng

The parking is such an inconvenience, didn't feel safe. When I spoke to the gentleman at the reception about it hoping to get some assurance from him, he brushed me off and it didn't go down well. Asked for a refund and he gives me the terms and conditions to read that they don't give refunds, then he goes 'you should read before you sign, what if it's written that we are gonna kill you' how do you say that to a customer? Well I let it go, got to the room.. Damn I regreted not asking to check the rooms before pay. The linen was old, you know how white turns black when old, and to top it up very dirty, like nasty dirty if you know what I mean. I asked for a change of linen the lady comes and goes on and on about how the linen is clean. I just couldn't believe that linen with lipstick and people's cum was considered clean in they standard. After a while she comes back and tells me they don't have any linen but one she had on the hand that couldn't fit my bed. We didn't carry slippers and this was a mistake too, the floor is wood and not so clean, it was sticky and all. The plug wasn't working so we couldn't charge our phones. We thought we'll we are already here, we got to make the best of it. Went to order dinner at the restaurant, I love Nigerian jolufo rice, ha! And boo ordered pap and meat. Ha! The rice was not fresh at all I couldn't eat it cos I felt it was gonna get me sick, his pap wasn't fresh too it was definitely cooked in the morning or something. I told the gentleman who was helping us, he apologized, it was cool.. Put then he tips himself from our change. We just had to laugh it off. Went to bed couldn't sleep cos of the noise. The breakfast wasn't tops but I think the best thing we had since our arrival. It would be a really nice place to have fun and chill only if there was a LOT changed. Otherwise it was like it's just those places people go to be boned. We really felt cheated cos the service wasn't worth what we paid considering the price changed and went up when...

We were booked into the Hotel at Wednesday about 13:30 my wife got there and did not even sleep one night , checked out the same night. The Front desk staff was very helpful and nice. But the main problem for me was i was busy studying for exams and there is constant noise even in the hallway, all that can be done by that is ear plugs can be given to us . That will not help much with concentration, my books did not even fit ons the table provided it is very small . There was no coffee station and my wife had to ask for one! The floors in the room was very dusty and walls is full of dirty marks . The Website online looks amazing... but wait till you get out of the elevator even the hallway is very dark . And my worry was with our car that was parked 50m away . We could not check on it and when my wife got there no assistance from hotel or even security at the open gate could help with luggage... a car guard from the street helped her and she felt very unsafe as he demanded money for his services at the parking area underground without any security to see that she is okay . She gave him money and he wanted more . She said she will give him more once inside the hotel ! He then carried the bag and even broke it ... where was hotel assistance? When we left the lady assured us that no our car would be safe because there is a security betwee the cars from 18:00 - 07:00 .. we left ag 18:40 and and there was no security at sight nowhere just beggers wanting money and drunks wanting to help . How should i leave my wife here during the day to go to the school i am busy studying at ? We rather booked out ... and will not get refunded (lady at desk says) although it was paid for till Friday . This hotel is for Party people and people having no issues with load music , and drunks , and just to have fun . But most definitely not for people that wants a relaxing...

I feel so sorry that I need to give a 1* only review. Unfortunately this hotel, when looking for a "hostel" is quite pricey. We paid 250R for an eight bed dorm. The room was dirty. I think room service skipped it, since there were still old sheets (we saw that they were dirty), the bin full of stuff and so on. I first asked for a female dorm, which was only accessible from the outside staircase and I didn't feel comfortable at all, so I asked to change into my cousins room. The guy at the reception denied at first, but when I said we then need to check out he helped me to move. No one else was in the room and it is not advertised as male and female only. There were two bathrooms in the room. One shower was cold, the other one fine. This hotel is trying so hard. There was soap and shampoo, but what does that help, when everything else in the room is falling apart and isn't well fixed? The elevator wasn't working meanwhile. At least we got safe parking and friendly staff, but we didn't feel...
