Knysna Penthouses — Hotel in George

My daughter and I visited this place over a weekend from Friday to Monday. It is a smart, clean, well located establishment with friendly staff. Self-catering facility and centrally located. Within walking distance of shops and restaurants We were well-received by Jackie, albeit that it we arrived slightly later than the normal check-in time. She was also always available and responsive to any requests and/or info we required. Free wifi is available and was very stable throughout our room and over the weekend. Always felt safe. Free and safe parking also available. Price wise I do think it is reasonable given the time of the year - school holidays and an annual festival happening in town. Previous reviews refer to the noise coming from the bar/club opposite the facility. For us it was not really an issue, but might be if you a "light sleeper". We stayed in Suite 5. The one side of the bedroom is fitted with soundproof windows. However, the noise was still fairly audible until about 2:00 am the next morning on Friday and Saturday. There was no noise on Sunday eve so I suspect that it will be quiet from Sunday-Thursday - not sure though. Furnished with the bare minimum. Clean at the first, but day 2 you’re overrun by ants. Air is stale and not circulated. We received the info from the owner that the apartment is sound proofed, but we have come to realize that this is very untrue, as we can hear every word of the songs played at the night club across the street until 03:30 in the morning, followed by lengthy discussions on the street by the partygoers, as well as raging by the homeless regarding their trolleys. The beds are horrifically uncomfortable and you have to leave the shower running for 10 minutes to get warm water, which is very poor, considering the severe drought the country is experiencing.
