I loved my visit to Knysna's Waterfront! I hadn't been there in so many years, and on our family vacation, we decided to take the drive from Mossel Bay to Knysna, and the Waterfront did not disappoint. I grew up close to the area, so it was very special showing my children, refreshing my own memories, and seeing the changes that have been made since I had last been there. My memories are, unfortunately, vague, but I luckily have new fresh memories, which I will not easily forget. The first thing you see when approaching the boardwalk at the Waterfront is the beautiful colours of all the flags of all the countries around the world. It almost creates a roof above your head. Then, to your left and right, you will find small little stores, perfect to pick up affordable souvenirs or just something to remember your time in Knysna. Further, you will find a few restaurants where you can enjoy a meal. The only problem for us on the day was that it was a scorching hot day, and we had all been in the sun too long, and none of the restaurants that we approached seemed to have air-conditioning and the tables were not very well shaded. So we unfortunately left the Knysna Waterfront. Despite having a great time, we decided to rather go and find some place where the sun wouldn't bake on our already...
Read moreThe worst experience I have ever had, we were seated near the bar area and waiting for our food to arrive I watched the staff working behind the bar, there was a staff member drying glasses for the drinks that was being poured and with the same cloth wiping his nose, I was so disgusted that I then could not drink the drink we ordered, I called the manager over and explained to him what was happening as there was also a staff member putting a dishtowel over his neck and then using it to wipe the glasses, totally unhygienic I was horrified as he said he would speak to them. After he had spoken to them I expected him to come and get our glasses to rectify this issue with fresh glasses but as he turned and walked off after speaking to them, the staff member then again wiped his nose with the dish towel, we promptly got up to leave as this was unspeakably rude and stomach turning, this manager dismally failed at his job, what a disgrace to the Drydock that on past visits didn't disappoint. I will never return and I will make sure to warn everyone of this, just imagine the viruses that can spread this way and just coming out of a...
Read moreWe made use of the knysna waterfront ferries to visit the knysna estuary an the heads. When we phoned to enquire about the different options the info was not that good. We also were not told that we cannot take our own fruit and iced tea on the ferry and were told on the ferry only that we cannot do that. The staff on the ferry is not friendly or accommodating. The menu is very simple and do not cater for more healthy and light meals especially on the morning trip therefore the services that was available was also not supported by the other passengers. There is a lot of liquor for sale that also is not suitable for a early morning outing. The vibe on the ferry is undescribable. The passengers move around on the boat a lot and tend to stand in front of the windows blocking the view for the other passengers that are seated. The trip was quite dissapointing since we expected a lot more for the amount that we paid for a ticket. Sorry to say it was a great dissapointment and well below...
