With charges approximating $1,000 ZAR (around $50 USD) for a service that is typically mundane, the absence of self-service laundry facilities becomes even more glaring. The room itself is cozy and well-maintained. I was given a slightly larger room than my friend, which was a nice surprise. Although there were junior suites and full suites available, I was not upgraded despite holding lifetime titanium elite status. That said, I did receive a room with a balcony and a partial sea view, which I appreciated. The rate was also excellent for the quality of the hotel.
The beds are exceptionally comfortable and have made for restful nights. However, the water pressure in the shower is quite low and the WiFi has been spotty. I understand that Cape Town is currently facing broader infrastructure issues, so this may be outside the hotel's control.
Breakfast has been a highlight. The food is consistently tasty, and I like that they rotate a few items each day to keep things fresh. The hot chocolate is especially good and worth trying. In the lobby, there’s a small independent travel desk that’s helpful for local planning, and a few games available which add a nice, relaxed touch to the atmosphere.
One inconvenience was that the gym is currently closed. There is also some construction nearby, which can make things a little noisy at times, though it hasn’t been overly disruptive.
A more unexpected issue occurred during the night when a bottle of water left in the mini fridge froze, cracked, and shattered. It woke me up and left water and broken glass all over the floor.
