Atlantic Express Train Restaurant — Restaurant in Sea Point

I bought 3 coupons for 3 couples for the steak deal (my mistake). At the "express train" Firstly I waited for a very long time to place my order there was nobody get us seated. I then wanted to order starters but they didnt have a the variety and just brought me the half moons which i think is a total ripoff. After almost a hour our food arrived to our surprise we got our food just as per there availability (not to our request but what they had in the kitchen to put the meal together). If you ordered veg because you you don't eat fries, boom.... you got a double portion fries because they didnt have anymore veg some got one broccoli and salads some didnt get fries. When we asked whats happening, they said "oh sorry there isn't anymore" it was a real dog show. Then I had to walk up to the front to collect our water I ordered when we arrived. Their card machine wasn't working so I couldn't get anything else to make up for the disappointment for the people I invited to join me what we called the wrong train. I just hope this doesn't happen to anyone else and that they fix this...

I went with my family and the food was FANTASTIC. Because the space is quite limited, I felt the atmosphere was also a little limiting but not necessarily a bad thing.

However, the service was the surprising bit for me. The waitress didn’t greet us with a smile, and actually looked to be quite annoyed with us (I’m not sure). I noticed that the other people’s leftover was packed away for them, and ours boxes were given to us. I had to ask for a plastic bag as well that I packed away the food into myself. In the moment, and even now, I’m not complaining. I’m just saying that it was something that I noticed. Additionally, after I paid, she said thank you while walking away, again with no smile. Please be aware that there is an automatic 10% tip charged to tables of 4. I was not aware of this but no complaints with that. There was a gentleman walking around who seemed very very helpful and kind though!

I think the service could’ve been slightly better, but besides that the food was fantastic! The food is flavorful and the portions are generous. Truly one...

My family went out to have breakfast on the 16th August 2020 at this place. I discovered that my sandwich was ful of mould and couldn't believe that the chef didn't see that the bread was completely moulded on one sandwich. I immediately vomited when I saw this and notified the waitress and even went as far as approaching the chef to know how could they possibly not see this as it was on the inside of the sandwich bread. If I can attach picure. I called the owner to come see what his restaurant is doing during covid 19. He did not take my call nor take a call from the train restaurant who also wanted to advise him of what just happened. Most disgusting experience ever. I will report incident and hope everybody that intends to eat here please check your food thoroughly and owners non response is just unacceptable as I will report him to health...
