Emakhosini Hotel on East — Hotel in Sydenham

My overall experience was a poor one. Defiantly not a 3 star hotel !!!||||1st problem: Price difference from the one on trip advisor for the exact same room.||2nd problem: We had no towels in our room and when we asked for them they only gave us the next afternoon. ||3rd: We booked a room for 2 and paid up front as asked, Yet despite asking only one glass and one mug were in the room and hotel suggested one drink coffee in a cup and the other in the glass!||4th: the elevator, its ancient and half of the numbers on the floors for the elevator are missing, I have no problem with an old elevator, I do however mind a poorly maintained one.||5th the shower had no rails or any racks to place soap on, we had to place them on the floor. ||6th we had to leave our key with reception so that they could clean the rooms, as they have no spare keys!!! We were out till late and were often asked why were only coming to pick up the key this late, (unprofessional in my opinion)||7th the gate is opened by security guards manually and when it drizzled, we had to wait 15 minutes in the dodgy alley for the security guard to get an umbrella so that she could open the gate for us. (again I don't mind the manual gate or the fact that it looked run down, I mind that we had to stand in the rain, while the security guard was looking for the umbrella)||||My intentions are for the hotel to make drastic changes and for individuals of trip advisor to get true reflection of the hotel.||||Best wishes ||Very unhappy customer and...

All the bad reviews about this place are true and no exaggeration. It seems this old block of flats was converted into a hotel many years ago and since then the facility has aged and seems neglected. Rooms are outdated, old furniture smelly carpets and virtually non-existent housekeeping. I even found someone else’s shoe under the bed - tells you about the cleaning. There is no breakfast menu - only one option people who looked like hotel staff walking out of the restaurant kitchen in their pj’s. The TV was fuzzy and not all channels work. Sad excuse for a bath/shower made it impossible not to flood the bathroom - oh, and the final...

Terrible experience. The place is extremely noisy and poorly managed. When we arrived there was no power in the room, on any plug, including air conditioning. The management was not able to fix the issue, nor find us another room, nor provide even a partial refund for the disservice, stating it was one of the guests on the floor tripping the switch. This is highly unacceptable, and it was an awful stay in a hot and noisy room, above an extremely noisy pub. There are much better options for a comfortable stay.
