Chippewa Spur Halaal — Restaurant in Essenwood

EDIT UPDATE** Contacted by the branch manager, they apologized and offered vouchers, went in for take away meals as I was concerned about the cleanliness the last time however it was visibly different, clean and neat there was even a lady mopping the floors , staff looked attentive, I even saw 2 managers on the floor who even came up to us to ask if we were okay. I did order different items than the last time but the food was good. This is a show of a business who takes constructive criticism and makes changes.

Original Would give 0 stars if possible, it's a pity this is the only halaal Spur in Durban, pathetic service, filthy from the tables to the toilets. The tables are left dirty when people leave and they only clean when a customer comes to sit down, staff hanging around screaming and talking. The toilet smells like it hasn't been cleaned in ages, they spray air freshener which makes it worse.

A lady asked if everything was ok, we asked her for more chilli salt she said ok, it never came. The blue cheese sauce for the wings was weak like water was added. My steak was cold, the pepper grinder was broken and it opened over my food I had to remove the peppercorns from my plate.

Worst meal I have EVER had at Spur and will not be...

Sadly totally unprepared for covid. Restaurants complain about lockdown losses but as far as this spur is concerned it is totally self inflicted. We battled to get through on the phone line and when we finally did it was unclear and got cut twice. We placed our order and arrived 30 minutes later. There were no other customers there and we expected a quick turnaround. But we waited another 40 minutes and in between several Mr D drivers arrived were ushered in and left almost immediately with their orders. Officious and unhelpful Staff refused to say how long ours would be. By now other customers arrived and also had to wait. All were visibly irritated and unhappy. . When the food finally arrived it was 3 orders at once and we were the last to be called despite arriving first. By now the food was stone cold and although we were assured that sachets of barbeque sauce were included there were none when we opened the bag. Very poorly organised and management really needs to lift their standards of...

Good food, good service from staff. Poor management! A gate installed in kids play area but nobody to supervise kids opening gate and the very little kids are walking out! Parents are eating and have to leave meals and run after kids! I spoke personally to the manager riaz and asked him to get a staff to stand at the gate.... But he said "it's not possible" Why is it not possible??? Are the safety of little kids not important ??? does he not read the papers or view the news on how little kids are being kidnapped from malls and restaurants??? Or he doesnt care??? Does he want to take chances and risk there lives??? Patrons spend alot of money on meals including tips, and it's poor service to make them to keep leave there meal to run and control a gate!!!!! They might as well eat at another place which can provide same food, same price, but with better service! The manager is ignorant of things currently happening in S.A and totally incompetent if he doesnt know how to oversee...
