I had two reservations, one booked from the reservation team for 12/27/1912/31/19, and a second one directly from the hotel's website for 12/31/1901/03/20 with the direct booking benefits. I understand that the direct booking upgrade benefit won't apply, but the receptionist never gave me the 2 free coffee coupon or acknowledged the late check-out benefit. There is no acknowledgement of my request during the reservation stage. Also, I asked the receptionist if there is any New Year's Eve celebration near the hotel, and I was told the hotel is not near any event and there is only the bell ringing at the Jonggak station. However, after I tried checking online by myself, I found out that there is actually a countdown party at the COEX mall which is only 3 stations away from the hotel.
I didn't really understand how to use the "Angel Coupon" since the instruction on the box just said if I didn't use any amenity items in the box I can donate the coupon or use it, but how do I prove I didn't use it? Do I need to bring down the entire box for the front desk to check? Upon check-out, the front desk also didn't ask if I want to donate the coupon or donate any money for taking the elevator (in the elevator it says every time you tap your room key to the sensor, it counts the number of times you took the elevator and at check out you can decide if you want to donate KRW500 for each trip).
I'm a solo traveler so the Cappuccino King was a good size for me, but for two people the room will be quite small and you will have no room to leave your luggage open. The room doesn't have a desk and chair but if you need to work you can go to the 1st floor cafe, even after hours the receptionist will turn on the lights for you. The biggest problem I had was the shower stall where the water will leak out to the toilet area. I think it's due to the design of the shower stall door and the placement of the rubber strip. I tried to stop the water when not in use and changing the shower head direction, but water still leaks out anyway.
The hotel itself is located just a minute away from exit 1 of the Eonju station which is quite convenient. Despite some areas that need improvement, I will stay at the hotel again if I ever visit...
Read moreI stayed in this hotel for 10 nights and really enjoyed it. I booked a room with two beds for two people, and it was perfect. I agree with other posters that the "king" room is probably best for one person (unless you are just staying a night or two), and the two doubles best for no more than two people. The hotel and cafe on the first floor are unique and are accurately depicted in the photos. The cafe made amazing iced lattes and lemonade. I found the beds very comfortable and I didn't mind that they are placed on a platform on the floor, but if you have mobility issues this may not be the best option for you as there is a step up to the beds.
All of the lobby and housekeeping staff were great. I was less impressed with the restaurant staff. We were turned away at 8pm for dinner, even though the sign outside the door said 9 pm was last seating. I was disappointed that the rooftop view required a bottle purchase to visit, as I don't drink.
This hotel is not as close to "all the things" as other hotels, but I appreciated the quiet at night. The only noise we heard was from people returning to their rooms on Saturday night. Otherwise it was very quiet. There is no parking lot or pullover in front, so cabs were a little annoyed by the pickup and dropoff location, but I didn't mind. There are two subway lines nearby. YOu can walk to several restaurants and convenience stores and Olive Young within 5 minutes, and a bit farther to shopping in Gangnam. I felt very safe walking at night. I...
Read moregreat price for what you get but be warned the room is pretty small. small to the point where opening your luggage is a pain in the butt.
very easy to get to the hotel from the icn airport. takes about 1.5 hours. get on the limousine bus from the airport and get off the samjung hotel stop. from there, cappuccino is across the street.
walking distance to gangnam daero with all the street shopping and night life BUT a taxi/few subway rides away from enjoying garosugil, insadong, etc
overall, super cute cafe and well decorated, has great amenities, includes gym and self laundry area for 5,000W per load and detergent is provided.
aside from the room size, the only other bad thing i would say is the ac situation, which was actually pretty annoying. You can’t control the temperature inside your own room. the weather being cool outside, hotel temp was set at 74~78 degrees inside BUT if you’re inside for a few minutes it just gets too hot and opening the window with all the air pollution(big issue in asia) is not appealing either.
there are great things about the hotels that make it appealing but the room size and ac situation just did not make it ideal for me to want to book the hotel again. this is again really a matter of preference but if you have big luggage and planning on staying in the room longer than exploring the city would rec...
