I very much enjoyed staying here while visiting Seoul. First of all, the hotel is clean which is very important. The rooms are small but I wasn't in my room much anyway. I am visiting from America and was glad to find a 110v outlet in the room so that I could plug in my curling iron. There's already a hair dryer in the room so no need to bring one. I was able to charge my Samsung phone into a USB port by the bed also. The heat, air and light controls are at the head of the bed so you don't have to leave the bed to change the controls if you get too cool or too warm. There are shelves in the room for storage as well as a small, open closet for hanging clothing and storing shoes. There's also a tv in the room to enjoy watching from bed. There's a small safe and refrigerator as well. Each day bottled water was left in the fridge. I received a call each day to ask what time I needed my room cleaned. If you just need towels you can let them know that and they will bring those and leave the room alone. In the shower were large bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. All were very nice smelling. The room has a drawer with a toothbrush, toothpaste, disposable razor, small folding plastic brush and 2 packaged q tips. The hotel is close to anything you want or need in the city. Plenty of restaurants and various stores/shops are nearby. As far as safety, your room key is a card that won't allow you to use the elevator to go up to the rooms unless you swipe your key. Plus, Seoul seems very safe so I was never afraid in the least. There is a spa in the hotel but I can't comment on it as I didn't visit it. Everything in the hotel is modern and in good working order. I would definitely plan to stay here again if I visit Seoul again...
Read moreDormyinn in Gangnam is a 5 star hotel for business travelers. It is not hotel for events or leisure, but it can be a hotel for a weekend-spa-cation. I've traveled to Seoul a dozen times or so for work and play. Many of these trips were long 2 week to 2 month trips. And I've stayed at upwards of 30 hotels in Seoul. I've gone back to Dormyinn in Yeoksam, Gangnam-gu I think six times. It it my favourite hotel in Seoul when I'm staying alone. I've stayed at a couple Dormyinns in Japan too. The chain is one of my favourite for business travel. I think it should be good for solo travelers and couples too as I see many other guests of these types too. The breakfast is a Japanese business style buffet with a Korean twist. The spa and sauna is quiet and private. The hotel has its own soaps and provides washcloths. There are smoking corners and ergonomic pillows. The front desk are multilingual and wear buttons showing the languages they speak. The hotel also serves late night ramen. The atmosphere is quiet and private just like the spa and the restaurant staff especially show excellent hospitality. There is no business facilities at this Dormyinn except for a public computer and printer. The laundry services are efficient and relative the Shilla cheap. What's most important is the consietency of all the services, even the food and rooms. The hotel is located a 4 minute walk from two metro stations right in the center of Gangnam. There is a food street less than one minute walk away and more within 5 minutes walk. There is a gallery one block away. There are upscale restaurants as well as very local restaurants around the corner. It's a quiet hotel in a very...
