HOTEL DM, Dongdaemun — Hotel in Seoul

The hotel was quite difficult to find especially because it was inside the flea market. Rooms were tiny but I guess it’s normal for most hotels in Seoul. Everything was good and rooms were clean except for the bathroom with a semi open shower enclosure that gets the bathroom floor wet and slippery when taking a shower. Toilet also got plugged up twice but they were quick enough to fix it. My biggest complaint was the breakfast. It was very limited in terms of choices and the breakfast lady often will not replace the food warmers when it is empty so you have always be the first to eat otherwise you’d be left with almost nothing. We stayed for 9 days so after about 4 days we got tired of their menu and having to ask for them to refill the empty trays. Eggs were way too over cooked and tasted...

Absolutely recommend to stay here. Very clean. Great location - few minutes walk from Dongmyo Station Exit 3 and Flea market. There are a few cafes nearby too, highly recommend Brea:Done - nice bread and coffee. You can also walk to Dongdaemun without taking the train, it is that close!

The airport bus 6002 also stops directly at the main road outside of the hotel. Extremely convenient and I didn't have to drag my luggage for long.

I booked the deluxe double room for a solo traveller - room was big enough. Bathtub was great. Wifi was great. Water dispenser was great. They don't provide fork/spoon in the room but I called the counter and they kindly provided me with chopsticks downstairs. The place is clean and the service is nice, although the room is not spacious. It’s also located nearby a bus stop and a subway station. You can find convenient stores, a local supermarket, and familiar shops like Olive Young or Daiso in walking distance.

However, it seems not to be the right choice for young travelers who love shopping and hanging out. The streets are quiet and filled with second hand goods rather than fashionable stuff. If you like to hang out late night, this area may not be convenient for you. It takes a while to travel to youngsters’ area like Hongdae.
