BCN Rambla Catalunya Apartments — Hotel in Barcelona

The apartment has beautiful architectural bones and a great location in the heart of Barcelona, with easy check-in, responsive communication from the host, and a fast elevator in a secure building. The view from the balcony was lovely, and the air conditioning worked well, keeping the apartment cool and comfortable. Hot water was consistent and sufficient for multiple showers.

That said, the overall condition of the apartment was disappointing and not up to the standard expected for the price. Several issues made our stay uncomfortable: • The sink stoppers had to be fixed upon arrival, and the bathroom sink continued to leak with every use. • A persistent sewer gas smell (likely due to a missing wax ring) made the apartment unpleasant—so much so that we kept windows open any time we weren’t sleeping. • One of the two bathrooms was essentially unusable: the bathtub had no shower curtain, and the handheld attachment was broken, spraying water everywhere. Despite the bath being the only option, the house rules instructed us not to use it due to a water shortage that reportedly ended two years ago. • Furnishings were very low quality—drawers in the armoire were broken, there was minimal storage space, and the beds were uncomfortable (the “king” was two cots pushed together, the full was worn out, and the pillows were either flat and lumpy or overly firm foam). • Basic amenities were severely lacking: only 4 towels for 4 people for 5 nights, 2 trash bags, 1 dishwasher tablet, no washcloths, no paper towels or napkins, and no complimentary coffee (pods were available at 1 euro each). • Most of the communal seating was uncomfortable or impractical, and the apartment had a persistent smell of sewage and/or fish throughout the building. • Mold and mildew were visible on the bathroom tile due to poor drainage and porous materials. • Provided soap and shampoo bottles were all broken except for the dish soap.

While the host was responsive and the space has potential, the lack of maintenance, poor furnishing choices, and missing essentials made the stay less...

Overall, a good experience. I would return.

Con The primary negative was communications with front desk staff (Irene?). As a short term rental host myself, I know how important it is to guests to get timely and accurate answers to questions. Having stayed there for a week and now returned home, there are STILL questions that were never answered. (And some inital ones were important - like whether they had confirmed the taxi from the airport, like whether they received the information they requested for pre-registration, like whether I could pay for the night before so as to get an early arrival. There is supposed to an information package given to guests to explain the rules, how to use appliances, where to take trash, how to get taxi, and all of the stuff that short term apartment guests need. Their link to this information was broken. I had to press hard and request four times that perhaps they find a copy of the document and just email it to me. Once they finally did (after we were already there and had figured stuff out on our own), they sent one but said parts were old and obsolete. I didn't know which parts were relevant, and which parts had been updated. Felt like I was operating in the dark, and it was frustrating.

Website for pre-registration was broken. They kept requesting that I complete information, but their technology was broken. I sent screen shots to show the problem. Eventually...

Wir (vier Personen) wohnten 10 Tage in den Rambla Catalunya Apartments (Penthouse Provenzal). Wir hatten das Apartment übers Internet gebucht und waren etwas besorgt, ob es sich tatsächlich um einen seriösen Vermieter handelt, da schon vorab eine Anzahlung geleistet werden mußte. Aber es lief alles ohne Probleme. Wir hatten unsere Ankunftszeit vorab der Vermietungsagentur mitgeteilt und wurden dann an der Adresse des Apartments für die Übergabe erwartet. Mit dem Apartment waren wird dann sehr zufrieden. Zum einen ist da die wunderschöne Dachterasse mit einem großen Vierertisch und ein schönen und weiten Blick über die Häuser von Barcelona auf der man abends (oder auch morgens) sehr schön sitzen kann. Das Haus liegt an der Ecke Rambla de Catalunya und Provenzal. Unsere Befürchtungen, dass der Verkehrslärm die Freude an der Dachterasse schmälern könnte, wurden schnell zerstreut. Zum einen sind die beiden angrenzenden Straßen Rambla de Catalunya und Provenzal keine stark befahrenen Straßen (wie Diagonal oder Gran Via). Zum anderen nimmt die Verkehrsdichte gegen Abend stark ab und auch von den Restaurants auf der Rambla de Catalunya dringt kein Lärm nach oben, so dass man oben auf der Terasse ungestört sitzen kann. ||Die Wohnung verfügt über ein Wohnzimmer mit Küche, drei Schlafzimmer und zwei Bäder. Das dritte Schlafzimmer ist ziemlich klein (6-8 qm) und hat ein Regal statt eines Schranks. Die beiden anderen Schlafzimmer sind von der Größe her ok. Die Schlafzimmer liegen nach hinten bzw. zu einem Lichthof raus, man kann also ohne Probleme auch bei offenem Fenster schlafen. ||In der Küche gab es eine Kaffeefiltermaschine, einen großen Kühlschrank mit Gefrierteil und zum Glück auch einen Geschirrspüler und eine Waschmaschine. Die Kaffeemaschine schwächelte etwas, alles andere funktionierte einwandfrei. ||Die Adresse ist verkehrstechnisch super gelegen: zur Plaza Catalunya sind es gut 10 min zu Fuß, zum Passeig de Gracia ca. 2 min. Die U-Bahnhöfe Diagonal, Provenzal und Passeig de Gracia sind in wenigen Gehminuten zu erreichen. ||Vor der Haustür liegen jede Menge guter Restaurants. Ich kann besonders das La Polpa in der Calle Enrice Granados 69 empfehlen. Sehr schicke Restaurants gibt es in der Calle Elisabets, die nur einen Steinwurf entfernt ist. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gibt es jede Menge, vor allem in Richtung Passeig de Gracia, aber auch an der Rambla de Catalunya und vielen Seitenstraßen. Zum nächsten Supermarkt (BonPreu in der Calle Provenzal) muss man 2-3 Blocks laufen (ca. 5 min)||Mein einziger Kritikpunkt: Im Internet wurde die Größe des Apartments mit 140 qm angeben. Selbst mit der komplette Dachterasse schätze ich die Größe des Apartments auf 90 bis maximal 100 qm. Dafür finde ich den Preis pro Nacht (240 Euro) dann doch etwas happig. Würden wir es das nächste mal etwas günstiger bekommen, dann würden wir es auf jeden Fall...
