I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing experiences I've had in years, especially given Hilton’s usual reputation for quality and service. Here’s a breakdown of my experience:
I chose to stay here specifically, even cancelling a reservation at another hotel, expecting the high standards I usually experience with Hilton. However, from check-in, things began to go wrong. As a Hilton Honors Gold member, I’m used to being recognized, but this time, there was no acknowledgment of my status. Instead, I was assigned a small room with no natural light—yes, a room without a single window.
When I expressed my concerns, the front desk repeatedly mentioned that I had booked at a “cheap price” (nearly €300 per night!) and that my room reflected that rate. They even insisted I should be “grateful” for the early check-in as a goodwill gesture. When I asked to check out early, I was only then offered a complimentary room change.
After being assured that my new room would be ready soon, I waited over two hours in a nearby bar for a call. I returned to the hotel to find that my room had been ready for some time, but nobody had notified me - the team kept insisting that I didn't answer the phone (I kept showing them that nobody rang me). On top of that, my luggage was left at reception despite being told it would be in my room.
The issues didn’t stop there. The new room was set up with twin beds, and even though I requested a king bed, I was told I’d have to wait until the next day. I waited another full day, and still, the bed situation was not resolved. When I complained, I was informed that the Housekeeping woman couldn't service my room twice in a day as she was only paid to attend it once. Additionally, the toilet didn’t flush properly, which I reported twice, but nothing was done. Throughout the night, I was disturbed by loud noises coming from a service door, making it nearly impossible to sleep. I shared this with the front desk and was essentially told it “wasn’t true,” despite having recorded the noise.
Other aspects of the hotel facilities were also disappointing. The gym was uncomfortably hot due to the AC being turned off and the sauna was off as well. After waiting at the breakfast room entrance for nearly ten minutes without any assistance, I ended up going elsewhere for a quick coffee. Despite not receiving breakfast, I was wrongly charged for it and had to request twice to have the charge removed from my bill (I'm still waiting for a refund - 20 days later).
Adding to the frustration, I requested the manager’s email address to raise these issues directly. To date, nobody has replied to this request, leaving my concerns completely unaddressed. Even after asking for my final invoice to be sent via email, I have yet to receive it.
This experience was far below Hilton standards and certainly did not reflect the quality that loyal Hilton members expect. I have several trips planned and have always preferred Hilton properties, but after this stay, I may reconsider my options.
I hope management seriously considers improving their services to meet Hilton’s...
Read moreLet's start with the positive. The housekeeping is wonderful. They clean your room any time of day that you are out and they do a wonderful job. The location of hotel is quite good. We spent most of our time in the Gothic Quarter so in the future I probably would stay there but this hotel is centrally located between Sagrada and the Quarter. You are right off Gracia which is their 5th avenue. Quite posh. Barcelona also has a lot of taxis and a metro so you can get anywhere you are going very easily. I highly suggest going to the Monument hotel's rooftop bar on the corner at night for a lovely view. The property has a pool which is great after a long hot day sightseeing. And there is drink service there (I highly suggest an Aperol Spritz). The pool needs maintenance, there was some black mold on the tile grout and some of the tiles were pulling up from the bottom of the pool. It's a wading pool and closes at 7pm due to noise. The pool is in direct view and sound to private residents. The breakfast is excellent! Make sure you find the breakfast hours. The waitstaff at the bar at pool and at restaurant are very nice. Solomillos is the restaurant on property and is the Charcuterie and the room service food. There is one menu for the hotel. My daughter and I really enjoyed trying the different steaks and sides. The AC worked beautifully in the room! And thank goodness, after a long day walking and sightseeing the heat it was very nice to come to a cool room.
Now the negatives: The app isn't very descriptive of the rooms in this hotel. My daughter was in the hotel before me in a twin bed room and her room was bigger than mine and I was in a King Supreme. Also, Hilton Honors rooms are on the first 2 floors of the building. So no need to book a pool view. You will have no view, just the roof of the arbor at the pool. The street facing rooms have a balcony, however it is not a balcony you can sit at. I was hoping to have coffee sitting on my balcony, alas we used balcony to dry our bathing suits. I believe the upper floors have the better rooms so I highly suggest requesting those. The room I was in was small despite it being a King Supreme and had furniture, in my opinion, that got in the way of the small square footage. The bathroom has a separate toilet from vanity which is nice, and the shower head was very good. However, we had a tub in our room which was fine with us, but it's a deep tub so if you have issues getting in and out of tubs, make sure to ask about this. Also, the water is super hot. I love a hot shower, so I had no issues with this, but be careful! The bathroom also had extra furniture that I didn't think was necessary, like a chunky wood table and a floor towel rack. In such a small bathroom, didn't seem necessary. I found the room quiet of street noise overall. What mostly woke us up was housekeeping on the floor above us. We were waking up at 10am so we weren't bothered by it, but doesn't seem to be a lot of insulation between floors. So, again I recommend a higher floor.
Overall, not a bad stay. Thought the hotel was going to be a bit better considering where...
Read moreAs a GOLD HILTON member I would say that hotel has low standards & offers bad experience to physically handicapped people. I booked 2 rooms in total and before I arrived (in the booking phase from Hilton call center line and 1 week previous my stay via email.) I was told that the room has adjusted bathroom for physically handicapped people. But when we arrived I was shocked because the bathroom was not physically handicapped adjusted bathroom. Not even close. As you can see from the pictures 1- Shower had no bath seat suitable for physically handicapped people or even for normal people because it was designed to have shower on foot. There was only bar going up and down which does not have function for accessible world. I warned reception and they sent me maintenance guy where he was also shocked as well because he thought there was a chair to have shower. Than they sent me stool which impossible to sit on it therefore it was useless. 2- Shower head was to high that only walking people could reach as seen in the picture as well. 3- Shower had foldable glass visor to prevent water get outside but even when it was in its minimal size I was unable to come closer to have shower on my wheelchair. 4- The sink was too low that I was unable to get under it with my wheel chair to wash my face etc… 5- The toilet was at the bottom of the wall as seen in the picture which was preventing to use that side face & arm when I sit on it where it should be in the middle so that both sides should be empty to make life easier for people with disabilities 6- The air-condition was not working 7- The windows were not fully opening. 8- The room had not enough lightning. There were 2 simple lamps which were like taken from IKEA or etc... which was not even giving enough light at nights.
Other thing is about breakfast. There was nothing to eat but cake and croissant. No cheese kinds no boiled tea no baked omlette. Everything was very little in quantity and potatoes or scrambled eggs were cold. The breakfast area was so narrow that I was unable to move with my wheelchair. Also nobody offered me to help me to get something to eat. There were too many front desk agents but almost nobody in other segments. Housekeeping 1 or 2 person. Breakfast 1 or 2 person. Bellboy 1 person. Almost all the time we had open the front door of the hotel ourselves because nobody attempted to help to a wheelchair guy. At the check in nobody sad welcome to our hotel. Thank you for being a GOLD Member etc… We were not valued as a Hilton GOLD MEMBER. Also nobody helped with our luggage’s to carry to our rooms. Nobody spoke ENGLISH accept reception guys. That’s why it was horrible to make yourself understood in the hotel. In the rooms all soap shampoo etc was in luquid like in HAMPTON where they did not give you what you need unless you ask for it like solid soap, slippers etc… The location was in the center but all the attractions of Barcelona were 1 or 2 kms away which makes you to use bus or metro or taxi... As a result the hotel was like 1 star boutique hotel for me which should not be even in HILTON PORTFOLIO. No quality no happiness no...
