We only stayed for a night. Service was impeccable from the front desk (can’t rem his name but I believe he was Filipino descent) and he was attentive. In fact, he even rem us from a week ago when we had requested to leave half of our luggage with the hotel while we head off to Portugal. Didn’t want to carry all the excess bags. Answered all our queries and gave very good advice (esp to airport and time needed) The family room was nicely setup and my son was delighted to have his own child size bathrobe and nice big comfy bed. It came with a ceiling fan but that was squeaky so left turn off. Bathroom shower area comes with 2 shower heads (both handheld and rain shower) and considered large. The sink area was large and elongated but somehow has limited empty space that I could put my stuff. The room also has limited power plug points. One of each side of the master bed, one in odd area near the study table but not exactly above it. So it was impossible to boil water with the provided kettle since the cable was too short. Have to boil water either at bedside or toilet. The Aircon will auto shut off if the window wasn’t shut tight. We didn’t know this as I couldn’t turn on the Aircon when we check in. When we called, was told we opened the windows which we didn’t. The maintenance guy came so quickly under 5mins and checked the windows and fixed it. It wasn’t us but prob the guest prior didn’t close it shut TIGHT (because it was latched shut, just not enough) The study table was small and the HUGE table lamp on it was taking up more space than necessary. Perhaps they should change that. We couldn’t find the in room slippers and asked for 2 only to discover much later, the new slippers were tucked Inside the bathrobes under the sink. Never thought of looking INSIdE the folded robes honestly. Usually it’s in the drawers. The only, only thing I hated about my room, gosh the noise I hear in the morning that woke me up. I can’t tell if it’s my neighbors from upstairs ( we are at room 304), or the housekeeping but the loud thumps and thuds were honestly disturbing. If u intend to sleep in, well have your ear plugs tucked in because no way u can sleep thru that din. Noise Insulation from internal building is not the best. Breakfast was superb though. We loved it. The setting was also very pretty! Another down side, the whole hotel only had 2 lifts, 2 not very fast lifts and one was broken for over a week at least during our visits. Imagine the whole hotel only had 1 lift serving everyone. It was a tight lift too. Can’t fit too many. We asked and they said they needed time to find the parts to fix the other lift. Ok…. Lifts are old and parts are harder to get… but perhaps it’s time for lift overhaul completely? Safety first perhaps? I can’t imagine if that lift broke down too what will happen… lugging up bags will not be easy. I don’t know if they have service lifts… They do have beautiful rooftop view, marred slightly by smokers and second hand smoke. So I couldn’t really bear to hang out there much since the smoke gets to me and not ideal for my child. The pool is ok if u like a dip but definitely not a swimming pool.

This was our second stay at a H10 hotel. The first was back in 2019 where we stayed at H10 Montcada. When I was looking to book again, I compared pricing between both hotels and H10 Madison was slightly lower than H10 Montcada. Luckily both are in the same area, which is an excellent location to stay in Barcelona. Located just off via Laietana, you have El Born on the east side and Gothic quarter on the west side. The Mercat de Santa Caterina is just a few blocks away, as well as the Palau de la Música Catalana. The Mercado de La Boqueria on Las Ramblas is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. On the corner of via Laietana and c/de Sant Pere Mes Baix is a Carrefour market (great for toiletries, snacks, wine, and vodka) and Capppuccino, a place for coffee and tea. Our room was on the 6th floor, #612. It had a small balcony where you could look out to the right and see the Cathedral. Inside the room were windows that also faced the Cathedral. Being on the 6th floor we heard no noise at all when we closed our soundproof windows. That was really nice. One woman we met said her room, first floor, was very noisy, as she could hear the trash trucks empty the bins that were just outside her window. The room had a small sitting area and a very comfortable bed. Nice large bathroom with bright lights. I hate being in hotels that have dark bathrooms. The shower had good water pressure. Amenities include bathrobes, slippers, a vanity kit, lovely shampoo and conditioner, hair dryer, and a safe located in the closet. The bathroom had shelving under the sink and there was a decent amount of counter top. I do wish they had hooks on the bathroom walls for things to hang (to the right in my photo). There's plenty of room to do this. The staff are top notch. Excellent service and very friendly and helpful. In the lobby was a table that had a bottle of Cava; and water. That's a nice touch. Love the rooftop area with the bar and great views of the city. They had heated lamps for the cold nights. H10 Madison is rated as a 4-star hotel, but I consider it a 5-star hotel. H10 Hotels will always be my go-go hotel anytime I'm in Barcelona. Lastly, if you become an H10 member, you will get a 5% discount on your bookings.

The hotel has all the basic amenities you would expect from hotel of this price in Barcelona. The hotels checkin process is average and as H10 members we were supposed to get two free drinks upon arrival which we asked for at checkin but were never given. The location of the property is the hotels best asset. Full stop. If you want an average hotel with average service at its best in a great location this is a hotel to book. Now for the items of concern. The street noise is very loud inside the rooms and the noise is constant all day and all night. With the sounds of garbage trucks picking up trash bins and emptying them over and over being the primary noise you will have to endure. The staffing level is completely inadequate. The staff can be very friendly and professional. However Many times during our 10 days stay the staff were so completely overwhelmed they became agitated, unpleasant and very rude to the hotel guest. The hotel lounge seats by the pool and inside the restaurant was only ever at half full yet they struggled to provide an acceptable level of basic service with the staffing levels the hotel provided. This issue is not a performance issue but a staffing level issue that management is responsible to address. The cleanliness of the hotel was notably below acceptable. The common areas had dishes and garbage placed on the tables for hours before being removed. The guests had no choice to leave it on tables as the hotel has removed all waste bins for the all the common areas. Not a single one is present outside of the guest rooms. This and the total lack of bathroom cleaning inside the rooms (except for toilet) is a result of very poor hygiene policies by the hotel management and not staff performance. Nothing except for the toilet bowl was cleaned the entire time we stayed. I wish the staff the best as I feel they are being abused and taken advantage of by the management of the hotel. This is particularly appalling given the workers have had to endure reduced wages and lack of pay altogether for nearly two years leading up to my stay.

We recently stayed here for our wedding in Barcelona, and it was the recommended hotel for all of our guests and we and some of our guests who stayed here had a horrendous experience. There were a number of issues with the hotel but the most concerning one is that of missing property.

One of our guests checked out and left some of our wedding presents in an open safe in their room. As we were still staying in the hotel for a further week, we asked reception in the morning to retrieve the wedding presents, which they said they would do and call us.

After a few hours we hadn’t heard anything so we chased reception again but they were fairly dismissive of the ask and said they were looking in to it and that the contents of safe is inspected upon check-out as a matter of procedure. After another few hours of hearing nothing, I went to reception again to ask about our missing wedding presents and I was told they never found anything and was dismissed away.

After multiple days attempts to elicit an acceptable action from the hotel team, multiple trips to the front desk, multiple requests to speak to a manager were still unmet for days.

Finally we got the attention of a manager, and he was even more dismissive. He said he checked the cctv and room and they couldn’t find anything so it’s probably that our friend lost the items or they were never put in the room.

We explained if he watched the cctv then he’d have been able to see them being brought to the rooms so that shouldn’t be a question. We let them know that it was extremely upsetting that they didn’t appear to be taking this seriously considering these are our wedding presents that have gone missing from their hotel.

The hotel never followed up with the new guests in the room, it waited until they had checked out before finally physically inspecting the safe. Seemingly it also did not follow its own post-checkout procedure of inspecting safes for properly left behind.

It’s concerning that the hotel seemed to be unwilling to do the bare minimum to ensure the return of our missing property or even follow there own procedures that they outlined to us, which should have found our wedding presents at the outset so we didn’t have to keep chasing them and asking that they take it seriously. There were also a number of other poor service issues at the hotel, including that the bridal party had to request water 4 times over the course of two hours before they finally gave us some the morning of the wedding.

As a result of this hotel, we sadly are missing wedding presents and cards with personal messages from our guests that we will never get to open so it’s extremely disappointing that they didn’t even bother to take it seriously in any way. We will certainly never be staying here again and would suggest if you do don’t expect good service or the safety of...

We did extensive research before selecting our Barcelona hotel and wound up choosing the Hotel10 Barcelona based on the excellent reviews we read on a variety of sites. This hotel earned all of these great reviews and more. We had a great stay and recommend the hotel highly.

It is a beautiful and modern boutique hotel in a beautifully restored older building. As others have noted, it is in a great location on a charming small street near the cathedral plaza in the old town. It is walking distance to many of the sites that visitors would want to see, and there are countless restaurants, shops and other conveniences close by (including several small food stores). It has a charming small bar/restaurant and dipping pool on the rooftop where you can also just sit and enjoy the beautiful view of the city. It has a nice on-site restaurant for breakfast in the lobby area, which we did not try. The premises themselves were immaculate.

The best aspect of the hotel was service at the front desk. We dealt with many of the desk staff, and everyone was great. To a person, they were friendly and helpful. They did everything possible to make our stay better, including great suggestions on what to visit, directions, helping with bags and wake up calls, exchanging money, etc. This was as good a team as I can remember experiencing in a hotel. The housekeeping staff was also first rate.

We booked a deluxe category room. It was wonderful -- the room was very large with a separate seating area, and was beautifully furnished. The mattresses were extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was very modern and functional. The air conditioning was great – easy to operate and worked very well, which was important to us because we like cool room. We did note, however, that our particular deluxe category room did not have any window to the outside, and instead overlooked an indoor plaza; as a result, we could not determine the weather outside or even if it was day or night. The room also did not have a desk in it, which meant that I could not easily work on my laptop, and it did not have a chest of drawers to unpack. We did not mind this, but mention it only to help other travelers select a particular room if these factors are important to them -- if so, you might ask about these factors when booking or arriving at the hotel.

The rates for this hotel were very reasonable for the location, room size and amazing service. We periodically visited the hotel’s website and saw a number of promotional rates that made booking this hotel a particular bargain. Readers may also wish to consider joining the H10 frequent guest program, which offers even greater discounts to members. But this hotel is a real bargain for its high quality.

In sum, we highly recommend the...
