Myself and my partner had the displeasure of visiting the Laitama branch of Luigi's this evening. Upon arrival we waited to be seated. Our initial server could not look more bothered. He pointed us in a general direction of a table and sat the menus down. thankfully this was his last interaction with us as it left a lasting impression and it was probably a sign of things to come. We ordered and waited. The starter came, we got bruchetta al pomodoro which while small was very tasty. Our server who took our order and dropped them to the table was very nice. He was wearing glasses and deserves praise.
Our pizzas arrived and this unfortunately is where everything went downhill. My pizza was fine, I didn't think much was wrong with it. My partner pointed out her pizza was soaking wet. Mine had a similar texture but not to that extent. I had seen a review or two on Google mention the word 'wet' when mentioning their pizza but I put this down as a once off.
We didn't complain about this as the staff didn't seem that approachable anyway. We ate away ect and my partner didn't finish her pizza. She pointed the wetness out to me and I even waited for her to go to the toilet to try and complain. (She is not one to complain, where I wouldn't call myself a Karen, but I do want good quality food for the prices advertised. No one came over to us to check how the food was ect or even if we wanted more drinks. This is despite the place having approx 3 or 4 more customers excluding us in the restaurant. When my girlfriend returned she informed me that one of the managers (who for the record spent most of our meal on her phone at the bar, not a complaint more an observation) gave her a dirty look when she came out of the bathroom. This immediately soured me on this place. I wanted to pay and get out of there asap. I had to hold my tongue because honestly they didn't seem like they would even care even if I did complain.
I can excuse food, everyone has an off day but I will not stand for bad service in a restaurant. This has completely soured us from this Luigi's branch. This restaurant would've gotten more business from us had the service been top notch. You can, again, excuse bad food as a once off but service has to be top.
If this is the welcome Luigi's gives their customers then I would be extremely worried for their future dealings with said group of people.

Awful booking experience. We reserved a table here and had to wait, while other people with no reservation were able to get a table without waiting. So for me, it's not clear what's the whole point of reserving a table here.
Awful interior. After some time we finally got a table. But it was extremely weird. We were sitting in the corner nearby some abandoned kitchen and broken window, there were a lot of weird things around us like: large containers for food, firewood, a stack of tables, etc. You can see all this mess on the photo, which I attached to my review. I was told that the only table they have right now, but I also noticed 2 other free tables (located in much better places).
Very dirty place. Especially restrooms. I probably have never seen so dirty restrooms in whole Barcelona during my 9-days vacation here.
Restaurant staff is always busy and almost never check on you. It was really hard to catch someone to make an order or to ask something. I can't say that restaurant staff is rude or something, but they also are not very pleasant. And they forgot about the 2 small dishes I ordered, but they also didn't include them in the bill, so it's not a big deal.
Prices and food are average. But...
Read moreGood food but bad service. I happened to be the only solo table, the only asian and the only who didn't order a drink. So no appetizer while waiting for my food, no introducing of my food, no question if i finish or not and want bill, not even a thank you after I pay. The madame who was serving me clearly didn't like me. Because she was offering those services to every table around me. I ordered a main dish and a dessert but didn't want to pay for water and didn't want any other drink so i didn't order one. I don't know which of these reasons makes her doesn't like me but there's clearly a discrimination in how i was treated compared to other clients. She put the bill on my table without saying anything. Using single word "copy?" To ask if i want a copy of my receipt, then walk away without saying anything when i said no need and thank you. Is the food good? Yes. Is it good enough to excuse the discrimination in service? No. Does it make me angry? Yes. Do i recommend the restaurant? No.
P.S I edited to remove 1 star because apparently i'm not the only one who suffered the bad treatment. My only bad experience in Barcelona and Spain...
